5 T O ASSEMBLE GRASS CA TCHER (See Figs. 3 and 4) 1. Slide grass catcher bag o ver the fr ame. Mak e sure the rear handle is on top (the same side as the front handle) and the strap is on the bottom. 2. Slip vinyl bindings o ver frame . NO TE : If vinyl bindings are too stiff , hold them in warm water f or a fe w minutes.

7 2. T urn nut on underside of drive control to increase drive speed. 3. Operate mow er to test dr iv e speed. Readjust as required. 4. If condition f ails to improve after the abo ve steps (f or- ward speed remains the same), y our drive belt is worn and should be re placed.
8 OPERA TION • Secure rear of discharge chute to lawn mower housing with knob . • Place rear handle of grass catcher on the crossbar of the lawn mo wer's low er handle as shown. • Lift the round door of the discharge chute and place the grass catcher into place on the discharge chute .
9 CA UTION: DO NO T overfi ll engine with oil, or it will smoke heavil y from the muf- fl er on startup. 1. Be sure lawnmo wer is le vel. 2. Remov e oil dipstick from oil fi ll spout. 3. Y ou receiv e a container of oil with the unit. Slowly pour the entire container down the oil fi ll spout into the engine.
10 T O ST OP ENGINE • T o stop engine , release operator presence con trol bar . T O ST AR T ENGINE NO TE: Due to protective coatings on the engine , a small amount of smoke ma y be present during the initial use of the product and should be considered normal.

12 LA WN MO WER Alwa ys obser v e safety rules when perf or ming any main- te nance. TIRES • K eep tires free of gasoline, oil, or insect control chem- i cals which can harm r ubber . • Av oid stumps, stones , deep r uts, sharp objects and other hazards that ma y cause tire damage.
13 MAINTENANCE Change the oil after e very 25 hours of operation or at least once a year if the la wn mower is not used f or 25 hours in one year . Check the cr ankcase oil lev el bef ore star ting the engine and after each fi ve (5) hours of continuous use .
14 LA WN MO WER T O ADJUST CUTTING HEIGHT See “T O ADJUST CUTTING HEIGHT” in the Oper ation section of this manual. REAR DEFLECT OR The rear defl ector , attached between the rear wheels of your mo wer , is provided to minimiz e the possibility that objects will be thrown out of the rear of the mo wer into the operator's mo wing position.
15 ST ORA GE Immediately prepare your la wn mower f or storage at the end of the season or if the unit will not be used f or 30 da ys or more. 3. Be sure that all nuts, bolts , screws , and pins are se- curely f astened. Inspect moving parts for damage, breakage and wear .
