GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 8 – English • The brak e is applied when the front hand guard (B) is pushed f orwards. • This mov ement activates a spring-loaded mechanism that tightens the brak e band (C) around the engine drive system (D) (clutch drum).
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 9 of the front hand guard, the chain brak e can only be activated b y the iner tia action. Will m y hand alwa ys activate the c hain brake during a kickbac k? No . It takes a certain force to mov e the hand guard f orward.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 10 – English chain saw , including the cutting equipment, is insulated from the handles by vibr ation damping units. Cutting hardwoods (most broadleaf trees) creates more vibr ation than cutting softwoods (most conif ers).
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 11 • Keep the chain pr operly tensioned! If the chain is slack it is more lik ely to jump off and lead to increased wear on the bar , chain and dr iv e sprocket.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 12 – English Sharpening y our chain and adjusting depth gauge setting General inf ormation on sharpening cutting teeth • Ne ver use a blunt chain. When the chain is blunt y ou hav e to ex er t more pressure to force the bar through the wood and the chips will be v ery small.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 13 General advice on adjusting depth gauge setting • When you sharpen the cutting tooth (A) the depth gauge setting (C) will decrease. T o maintain optimal cutting perf or mance the depth gauge (B) has to be filed down to achie v e the recommended depth gauge setting.
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS 14 – English Lubricating cutting equipment Chain oil Chain oil must demonstrate good adhesion to the chain and also maintain its flow characteristics regardless of whether it is warm summer or cold winter weather .
GENERAL SAFETY PRECA UTIONS English – 15 Regular ly check the degree of wear on the driv e sprocket. Replace if wear is e xcessive . Replace the dr iv e sprocket whene ver you replace the chain. Needle bearing lubrication Both v ersions of sproc kets ha ve a needle bearing on the drive shaft, which has to be greased regularly (once a week).
ASSEMBL Y 16 – English Fitting the bar and chain Check that the chain br ake is in disengaged position by moving the front hand guard to wards the front handle. Remov e the bar n uts and remo v e the clutch co v er (chain br ak e). T ake off the transportation r ing (A).
FUEL HANDLING English – 17 Fuel Note! The machine is equipped with a two-strok e engine and must alwa ys be run using a mixture of petrol and two- stroke oil. It is impor tant to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mix ed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained.
FUEL HANDLING 18 – English Fuelling Clean the area around the fuel cap . Clean the fuel and chain oil tanks regularly . The fuel filter must be replaced at least once a year . Contamination in the tanks causes malfunction. Make sure the fuel is well mix ed by shaking the container bef ore refuelling.
ST ARTING AND ST OPPING English – 19 Star ting and stopping Cold engine Starting: The chain brake must be engaged when the chain saw is started. Activate the brak e by mo ving the front hand guard f orwards. Ignition; choke: Set the chok e control in the choke position.
ST ARTING AND ST OPPING 20 – English Push in the choke control as soon as the engine fires and keep pulling until the engine starts. When the engine star ts, quic kly apply full throttle; the throttle star t lock will automatically disengage.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 21 Bef ore use: 1 Check that the chain br ak e works correctly and is not damaged. 2 Check that the rear right hand guard is not damaged. 3 Check that the throttle loc kout works correctly and is not damaged. 4 Check that the stop s witch works correctly and is not damaged.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 22 – English Fit a guard to the bar bef ore transpor ting the chain saw or carrying it for an y distance. 7 When you put the chain sa w on the ground, lock the sa w chain using the chain br ake and ensure you ha ve a constant view of the machine .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 23 the saw chain is jamming, the sa w may be pushed back at y ou. 8 Unless the user resists this pushing f orce there is a r isk that the chain saw will mo ve so f ar backwards that only the kickbac k zone of the bar is in contact with the tree, which will lead to a kic kback.
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 24 – English Limbing When limbing thick br anches you should use the same approach as f or cutting. Cut difficult branches piece b y piece. Cutting If you ha ve a pile of logs , each log you attempt to cut should be remov ed from the pile, placed on a saw horse or runners and cut individually .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 25 Felling direction The aim is to f ell the tree in a position where you can limb and cross-cut the log as easily as possible .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES 26 – English Ne xt make the bottom cut so that it finishes e xactly at the end of the top cut. The directional cuts should run 1/4 of the diameter through the trunk and the angle between the top cut and bottom cut should be 45 ° .
W ORKING TECHNIQUES English – 27 Freeing a tree that has fallen badl y Freeing a ”trapped tree” It is very dangerous to remov e a trapped tree and there is high accident risk. Ne ver try to fell the tree that is trapped. Ne ver work in the risk zone of the hanging trapped tree.

MAINTENANCE English – 31 Checking the inertia brake release Place the chain saw , with the engine s witched off, on a stump or other stable surf ace. Release the front handle and let the saw f all by its o wn weight, rotating around the rear handle tow ards the stump.
MAINTENANCE 32 – English Chain catcher Chec k that the chain catcher is not damaged and is firmly attached to the body of the chain saw . Right hand guar d Chec k that the right hand guard is not damaged and that there are no visible def ects, such as crac ks.
MAINTENANCE English – 33 The muffler is designed to reduce the noise le vel and to direct the e xhaust gases awa y from the operator . The e xhaust gases are hot and can contain spar ks, which ma y cause fire if directed against dr y and comb ustible material.
MAINTENANCE 34 – English Fitting the starter • T o fit the star ter , first pull out the star ter cord and place the star ter in position against the crankcase. Then slowly release the starter cord so that the pulley engages with the pawls . • Fit and tighten the screws that hold the starter .
