2 Thank you for purchasing JB L Control Contractor ceiling loudspeakers. Read through this manua l to familiarize y ourself with the feature s, applications and precautions before you use these prod ucts.

4 Installation Prepar ations The entire installation can be accomplished, if nece ssary, without requirin g access above the ceiling. Bracketr y for use with either suspended ceilin gs or sheetrock ceilings is included. The speaker is held securel y in place via mounting ears which lock into place.
5 2) The optional PLASTER-RING BRACKET (or “mud ring”) contains a circular offset, forming a edge guide for sheet rock plastering. The bracket has wings that attach to the building structure. Sheet rock is typicall y either precut or cut with a rotary cutting tool using the outside of the plaster ring circle as a guide.
6 STEP-BY-STEP INSTALLATION AND WIRING The installation sy stem has been de signed so that the entire insta llation can be accomplished from beneath the ceilin g, for instances when ac cess above the tile is not possible or practical.
7 Tile Rails: The tile rails are designed to fit either s tandard 24-inch wide tiles or 600-m m wide tiles. The tile rail pieces do NOT p hysically attach to the T-grid struts. Instead, the inverted-V shape at the ends of the rails sit OVER the T-g rid strut.
8 Guide to th e Pins for Con nection -- The removable locking input connector contains 4 terminals, as marked on the conn ector. The pin functions are listed on the label locat ed on the term inal cover pl ate. Pins 2 & 3 are the “+” and “-” inputs to the loudspeake r.
9 Using Loop-Through Terminals (P ins 1 & 4) - - B y connecting the wire pair of the subsequent spea ker to pins 1 & 4, then all subseque nt speakers will be disconnected when this speaker’s conn ector is disconnected durin g for troubleshooting,.
10 Step 5 – Tighten the Strain Relief Fitting & Close the Terminal Cover First, remove the horizontal screw indic ated in the drawing below. Next, loosen the screws holding the fitting’s sliding pieces onto the input-terminal cover b y about a half turn.
11 The strain relief can be tightened in two wa ys, choose whichever is b est for your application: a) Tightening onto plenum cable or bare wire -- Slide the wiring through the strain relief fitting on the termina l cover plate.
12 b) Tightening o nto flexib le or hard c onduit – The supplied fitting accommodates up to 3/8 inch (9.5mm) flexible conduit. S lide the wiring through the strain relief fitting on the terminal cover plate. Insert the conduit into the strain relief fitting .
13 Step 6 – Insert the Speaker Into the Ceiling and T ighten . Insert the speake r into the ceiling as far as it goes, until the front baffle rim touc hes the ceiling .

15 Step 8 – Insert the Grille – Consider which direction the logo is facing and press the grille into pla ce until the front of the grille is flush with the rim.
