Prepare V ehicle - 4 PREPARE V EHICLE Prepare V ehicle Remove Mo wer Deck T ractor mower dec k must be remov ed from bef ore installing tiller . See your tractor oper ator ’ s manual or mo wer deck manual f or remov al instr uctions. Ballasting Requirements All tractor s require front wheel weig hts to be installed when using this tiller .
Installing - 5 INSTALLING Installi ng P ark V ehic le Safel y • Stop v ehicle on a le v el surf ace, not on a slope . • Disengag e PT O . • Engage the park brak e. • ST OP the engin e. • Remo ve th e ke y . • Bef ore you lea v e the operator ’ s seat, wait for engine and all moving par ts to STOP .
Installing - 6 INSTALLING handle (B) to rotate tiller housing while pulling left frame rail upward s to gain clearance to l ower fr ame wheels (C). 2. Unlock loc king pin (D) and rotate frame wheel do wn into engaged position and make sure loc king pin locks into loc king hole.
Installing - 7 INSTALLING Disengage Frame Suppor t Rod 1. Mov e to left side, under tr actor f ootrest — hold lift handle (B) down. 2. Piv ot suppor t rod (C) down in to storage position. 3. Slowly release do wnw ard pressure on lift handle (B) until cups of tiller frame latches (A) are seated up against mounting pins (D).
Installing - 8 INSTALLING tiller lift rod (B) upright, align tractor lift link (A) so pin (C) fits into hole (D) of lift link (A). 2. Install M13 x 24 x 2.5 mm w asher (E), from bag of parts, on lift rod pin (C). 3. F asten lift rod to lift link with spring locking ring (F), from bag of par ts.

Removing - 10 REMO VING Disengage Belt And Unhook Left Clip Latch 1. Mov e to r ight side , under tractor f ootrest — mov e belt tensioning idler lev er (A) out of “ ENGAGED ” position into “ DISENGA GED ” position (point ing toward front of tractor).
Removing - 11 REMO VING Lock Frame Wheels Into Engage P osition 1. Mov e to left rear , behind tractor dr ive wheels — pull and hold out wheel locking p in (A). 2. Swing left wheel assembly ( B) down into “ ENGA GE ” position. Mak e sure loc king pin engages hole in loc king brac ket.
Operating - 12 OPERATING Operating Tilling Tips Install correct front and rear tractor w eights. See Install W eights and Chains in Installing the Tiller section. Till with engine at F AST thrott le, control g round speed with appropriate transmission spe ed range.
Operating - 13 OPERATING Move Implement to “ RAISE ” P osition 1. First push implement lift le v er (A) f orward slightly , then depress and hold do wn button (B) to unlo ck lift le ver loc king mechanism.
Operating - 14 OPERATING 3. Mov e to r ight side, below tractor f ootrest — rem ov e spring locking ring (A) and flat washer (B) f or m lift rod pin (C). 4. Remov e lift rod (D) f or m tractor lift link (E). NO TE: Maximum tilling depth is 150 mm (6-in.

Ser vice - 17 SERVIC E Service Service Intervals Checking Belt T ension Picture Note: Tiller removed for c larity purposes only . 1. Chec k position of belt ten sion rod (A): • If rod end is in po sition (B), against the v er tical frame rail (C), the belt i s too tight and m ust be loosened.
Ser vice - 18 SERVIC E Cleaning Under Belt Shield Picture Note: Tiller removed for c larity purposes only . 1. Mov e to left side of tiller housing — remove two self- tapping cap screws (A) and belt shield (B). 2. Clean dir t from sheave and surrounding area .

Ser vice - 20 SERVIC E 7. Remov e secondary b elt (K) from tiller drive shea ve . Install Secondary Drive Belt 1. Install ne w secondar y dr iv e belt with one twist (A), as shown, to seat “ V ” of belt in secondary drive shea v e (B).
Ser vice - 21 SERVIC E 2. Raise tiller as high as it will go if still on tractor . NO TE: For ease in replacing tines, yo u can remove tiller fr om the tractor an d turn it completel y upside down. Put do wn prote ctive tarp or carpet to pr otect paint finish.
Ser vice - 22 SERVIC E • MiddleTine Sets : Remo v e lock nut s (A), bolts (B), spacers (C), t wo left tines (D), and two right t ines (E). Remember to inst all ne w bolts so heads a re to left side and ne w lock n uts are to right side . A total of eight spacers are used in these middle tine sets — fo u r i n e a c h set.

Assembly - 26 ASSEMBL Y Install T ractor Rear -Frame Hard ware 1. F rom bag of part s, in stall one spacer (A ) on each M12 x 1.75 x 50 mm flange bolt (B). 2. Install spa cers and bolts in BO TT OM holes at rear of tractor fr ame and secure with M12 x 1.
Assembly - 27 ASSEMBL Y Put Tiller Frame Rails In T ransport Position 1. Pull left frame rail up until locking pin (A) can be loc ked into locking br ack et hole. Push do wn on tiller handle (B) to rotate tiller housing while pulling left frame rail up to gain clearance to lo wer left frame wheel.
