2 Safety pr ecautions W ARNING • T o prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the TV to rain or moisture. CAUTION • Operate only fr om the pow er source indicated on the rear of the TV . • A v oid damaging the power cor d and mains plug. When you unplug the TV , pull it out by the mains plug.
3 Prepar ation 1 Confirm which remote control you have Y our TV comes with one of the tw o remote contr ols shown below . Functions y ou can operate differ depending on the type of r emote control.
4 Prepar ation 3 Connecting the aerial and VCR • R ead the manuals provided with the de vices. Depending on the device , the connection method may be differ ent from the diagrams . Also the device settings may need to change depending on the connection method.
5 Prepar ation 4 Connecting other devices If you ar e not connecting any other devices , skip step 4 and perform step 5. • Use the headphones with a stereo mini jack (3.5 mm in diameter). When y ou connect the headphones, the TV speak ers go off. • The OUTPUT terminal outputs the video and sound signals which you ar e viewing on the TV .
6 Prepar ation 6 Initial setting When the TV is first turned on, it enter s the initial setting mode , and the JVC logo is display ed. F ollow the instructions on the on-scr een display to perform the initial settings. 1 Press the Main power button on the TV .
7 Basic operation • The illustration belo w is for the remote control RM-C1 0 15. Y our remote control ma y not look exactly lik e the illustrations. 1 Press the POWER button to turn your TV on. • If your TV does not turn on, pr ess the Main pow er button on the TV then press the PO WER button again.
8 Remote contr ol buttons and functions ECO SENSOR button Y ou can adjust this TV so that the scr een automatically adjusts to the optimum contrast accor ding to the brightness of your room. This function r educes ey e strain and the pow er consumption of this TV .
9 Remote control buttons and functions BASS button < Bass function support model only > Y ou can enjo y a powerful bass sound b y using the B ASS (Bass R eflex) function.
10 Remote control buttons and functions RETURN + button Y ou can set a channel y ou frequently vie w to the R eturn Channel and you can vie w that channel at any time with one-touch. T o set the channel to the Return Channel: 1 Select the channel you want to set to the Return Channel.
11 Using the TV’ s menus This TV has a number of functions you can oper ate using the menus. T o use all your TV ’ s functions fully , you need to understand ho w to use the menus.
12 Using the TV ’ s menus INPUT Y ou can vie w images from VCRs or other devices connected to y our TV . 1 Press MENU T to display the “ MENU 1 ” menu, then select “ INPUT ” . MENU 1 INPUT TV VNR ON COMPRESS(16:9) ON PICTURE TILT 00 SELECT BY EXIT BY OPERATE BY -+ D ISPLAY 2 Press MENU / to select the VIDEO mode.
13 Using the TV ’ s menus AUTO SHUTOFF Y ou can set y our TV to turn off if no signals are r eceived for about 15 minutes or longer after the end of a broadcast.
14 Using the TV ’ s menus VIDEO-2 SET Set the VIDEO-2 SET correctly accor ding to the video signal input from the e xternal device connected to the VIDEO-2 terminal. If this setting is incorrect, images will not be display ed. 1 Press MENU T to display the “ MENU 2 ” menu, then select “ VIDEO-2 SET ” .
15 Using the TV ’ s menus AI VOLUME Y ou can pr event the sudden incr ease or decrease of v olume that occurs when changing channels or switching VIDEO modes.
16 Using the TV ’ s menus MANUAL CH PRESET Y ou can manually pr eset desired TV channels to desired channels . 1 Press MENU T to display the “ MENU 3 ” menu, then select “ MANUAL CH PRESET ” . 17 Using the TV ’ s menus SKIP Y ou can set undesir ed channels to be skipped. Channels set to be skipped cannot be selected by the CHANNEL m buttons nor the CHANNEL SC AN button. • Channels to which TV channels hav e not been preset ar e automatically set to be skipped.
18 Attaching the T win Port Bass Blaster Unit <Bass function support model only> The T win P ort Bass Blaster Unit is packaged together with the TV . Befor e you use the TV , mount the unit correctly on the TV . Note: • The B ASS functions do not work unless the T win P ort Bass Blaster Unit is connected correctly to the TV .

20 Basic operation • Check to make sur e the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ OFF ” . When the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ ON ” , the TV cannot be operated using the front control buttons . For details , see “ CHILD LOCK ” on page 13.
21 T roubleshooting If there is no pictur e or the TV does not operate normally , make sur e the problem isn’t due to the reasons indicated belo w . If the problem per sists even after taking the measur es indicated, please contact a service technician.
