– 6 – English Getting Started Supplied Accessories Make sure that you have all the following items. The number in the parentheses indicates the quantity of the pieces supplied.
– 7 – English 1 If cords are co ver ed with insulation, twist the core of the cor d at the end of each cord, then r emove the insulation. 2 Connect the AM loop antenna to the AM LOOP terminals as illustrated. 3 T urn the AM loop antenna until y ou ha ve the best r eception.
– 8 – English T o connect surround speakers By connecting surround speakers to the SURR OUND SPEAKERS jacks you can enjoy surround ef fect. • Connect the right surround speaker to the RIGHT jack. • Connect the left surround speaker to the LEFT jack.
– 9 – English Common Operations T urning On or Off the Power T o turn on the unit, press (or ST ANDBY/ON on the remote control) so that the lamp on the b utton goes off. T o turn off the unit (on standby), press (or ST ANDBY/ON on the remote control) again so that the lamp on the b utton lights up.
– 10 – English Continued FADE MUTING V O L U M E VOLUME Adjusting the V olume Y ou can adjust the volume le vel only while the unit is turned on. The v olume lev el can be adjusted in 32 steps (V OLUME MIN, V OLUME 1 – V OLUME 30, and V OLUME MAX).
– 11 – English Selecting the Sound Modes Y ou can select one of the 6 preset sound modes (3 surround modes and 3 SEA—Sound Ef fect Amplifier—modes) and 3 user modes. This function only af fects the playback sound, but does not af fect your recording.
– 12 – English Creating Y our Own Sound Mode — User Mode Y ou can change SEA (Sound Effect Amplif ier) pattern to suit your preference. The SEA (Sound Ef fect Amplifier) pattern can be adjusted into 5 frequency ranges—LO W1, LO W2, MID, HIGH1, and HIGH2.
– 13 – English Listening to FM and AM Broadcasts T uning in to a Station 1 Pr ess FM/AM. The unit automatically turns on and tunes in to the previously recei v ed station (either FM or AM). • Each time you press the button, the band alternates between FM and AM.

– 19 – English Playing at Random—Random Play The tracks of the currently selected disc will be played at random. • T o use Repeat Play (see page 20) for Random Play , press REPEA T after starting Random Play . Only REPEA T 1 and REPEA T ALL can be selected for Random Play .
– 20 – English Prohibiting Disc Ejection—T ray Lock Y ou can prohibit disc ejection fr om the unit and lock discs. • This operation is possible only when the source is the CD player . On the unit ONL Y : T o prohibit disc ejection, press 0 for an y disc tra y while holding down 7 .
– 21 – English Playing Back Video CDs Selecting Video Output (P AL, MUL TI, NTSC) Y ou can set this setting in Standby mode. (W ait for 2 second after the clock timer appear .) Before playing a VCD, use the buttons on the unit to select a video output mode to match your TV system.
– 22 – English Playing Video CDs with PBC Function — Menu Play This System provides Playback Control (PBC) which utilizes a procedure (menu selection) programmed in a video CD. The playback operation procedure may dif fer depending on the disc you use.
– 23 – English Screen-sa ver • When a menu screen of a karaoke disc is displayed for a fe w minutes without any selection being made, it automatically starts from the first song . Do not paused V ideo CD for more then 10 minutes to prevent scr een burns.

– 27 – English Synchronized Recording By using Synchronized Recording methods, you can start and stop both disc play and tape recording at the same time. 7 Direct Recording Everything on the disc goes onto the tape in the order on the disc, or according to the order you ha ve made for Program Play .
– 28 – English Using the Microphones Y ou can enjoy singing along (Karaoke) and microphone mixing by using two microphones. • MIC LEVEL adjustment is v alid for both microphones connected to MIC 1 and MIC 2 jacks. IMPOR T ANT : • Always set MIC LEVEL to MIN when connecting or disconnecting the micr ophone.

7 SURR OUND SPEAKER SYSTEM HO W T O INST ALL SURROUND SPEAKERS • This equipment is not magnet-proof . If it is placed near a TV set, color on a TV screen may become une ven. If the case of installation, theref ore, locate it at sufficient distance from the TV set.
8 SURROUND SPEAKERS CONNECTION A pin plug is attached to the tip of the speak er cord. If the speaker connection terminal on the amplifier to which the speaker is to be connected is a pin jac k, connect the left-hand speaker ’ s lead to the left terminal, and the right-hand speaker ’ s lead to the right ter- minal.
