6 6 T ypes of Play able Discs D VD (8 cm / 12 cm disc) A udio CD and Video CD (8 cm / 12 cm disc) In addition, this unit plays D VD-R, D VD+R, D VD-R W , D VD+R W , SVCD , and CD-R / CD-RW that contains audio titles, and/or JPEG files. This indicates a product feature that is capable of playing D VD-R W discs recorded with Video Recording format.

ANT .IN Connect the VHF/UHF/CA TV antenna to this ter minal. VCR IN LINE 1 (VIDEO/AUDIO (Left/Right)) Connect the audio/video output of an external source (Audio system, TV/Monitor , VCR, Camcorder). D VD/VCR OUT (VIDEO/A UDIO (Left/Right)) Connect to a TV with video and audio inputs.
10 Connecting an Antenna or Cable TV Antenna: Disconnect the antenna from the rear of the TV and identify the antenna cable. If it is a round 75 ohm coaxial cable connect it directly to the jack marked ANT .

12 12 HDMI Connection (D VD deck only) If you hav e a HDMI TV or monitor, you can connect it to this D VD+VCR using a HDMI cable. Set the TV’ s source to HDMI (refer to TV’ s Owner’ s manual). Connect the HDMI OUT jack on the unit to the HDMI jack on a HDMI compatible TV or monitor using an optional HDMI cable (H) .
Connection to an Amplifier Y ou can only listen to D VD playbac k using OPTICAL (O) , COAXIAL (X) and A UDIO OUT (A2) connec- tions. The tuner and VCR will still be heard through the RF .
14 Initial Settings - VCR By using the VCR Setup menu, you can make various adjustments to items such as clock setting, and timer recordings. Y our D VD+VCR allows remote control adjustment of se ver al features. General Operation Press VCR on the remote control.
TUNING This D VD+VCR is equipped with a frequency synthe- sized tuner capable of receiving up to 181 channels. These include VHF channels 2-13, UHF channels 14-69 and CA TV channels 1-125. A uto Channel Programming Choose the SOURCE SELECT option, then use b / B to select TUNER.
16 Disp la ying Disc Inf orma tion on-s cree n - D VD Y ou can displa y various information about the disc loaded on-screen. Press DISPLA Y to show various playback infor- mation. The items displayed differ depending on the disc type or playing status.
LANGU A GE Menu Language Select a language for the VCR and D VD’ s setup menu and information display . Disc A udio / Subtitle / Menu Select the language you prefer f or the audio track (disc audio), subtitles, and the disc menu. Original : Refers to the original language in which the disc was recorded.
18 O THERS PBC Set Pla yback Control (PBC) to On or Off. On: Video CDs with PBC are pla yed according to the PBC . Off: Video CDs with PBC are pla yed the same wa y as A udio CDs. A uto Play Y ou can set up the D VD+VCR so a D VD disc auto- matically star ts playing whenev er the D VD is inser ted.
Operations - VCR This chapter descr ibes how to operate the VCR and D VD . VCR T ape Playbac k Press the VCR button to select the device to be oper- ated.
20 Slow Motion While in still mode, press FF ( M ). The tape is pla yed at a speed 1/19 times slower than the nor - mal speed. Use CH (- / +) on the Remote Control if necessar y to adjust the tracking. T o retur n to the nor mal speed, press PLA Y ( N ).
VCR T ape Recording Basic Instructions T ur n on the D VD+VCR and TV . T une the TV to the D VD+VCR output channel (CH 3 or 4) or if a direct VIDEO/A UDIO connection is made between the D VD+VCR and the TV , set the TV’ s source selector to VIDEO . Inser t a video cassette with the saf ety tab intact.
22 CHANNEL: Select a TV channel, LINE1 or LINE2. If you hav e CABLE TV and use a cable bo x (conv er ter) you must set the channel to match the cable box output channel (usually CH 3 or 4). Change channels on the cable bo x instead of with the D VD+VCR.
Instant Timer Recording With this feature you can record f or a preset length without using the program timer . T ur n on D VD+VCR and the TV . Be sure the TV is tuned to the D VD+VCR output channel (CH 3 or 4). If a direct VIDEO/A UDIO con - nection is made between the D VD+VCR and the TV , set the TV’ s source selector to VIDEO .
24 Copying from D VD to VCR Y ou can cop y the contents of a D VD to a VHS tape. Inser t the disc you wish to copy into the D VD deck and close the disc tray . Inser t a blank VHS video tape into the VCR deck. Find the place on the D VD from which you want to star t dubbing using the PLA Y , FF , REW and P A USE functions.
Additional VCR Information During manual recording, timer recording, Instant Timer Recording, playback, or fast f orward modes, the D VD+VCR automatically star ts rewinding the tape at the end of the tape. The cassette stops at the beginning of the tape and is ejected.
26 Operations - D VD Pla ybac k Setup T ur n the TV on and select the video input source connected to this unit. A udio System: T urn the Audio System on and select the input source connected to this unit. Press OPEN/CLOSE ( Z ) to open the disc tray .
Buttons Operations Discs ZOOM During playbac k or pause mode, press ZOOM to enlarge the video image (3 steps). Y ou can mov e through the zoomed picture using b B v V buttons . Press CLEAR (0000) to exit. Notes: Zoom ma y not wor k on some D VDs. F or JPEG files, the zoom function is not av ailable when the resolution is set to 720p or 1080i.
28 T o Recall or Clear a Marked Scene During disc playbac k, press SEARCH. The marker search menu appears on the screen. Within 10 seconds, press b / B to select a mar ker number that you want to recall or clear . Press ENTER/OK and playback star ts from the marked scene.
Viewing a JPEG File Using this D VD+VCR you can view discs with JPEG files. Inser t a disc and close the tra y . The PHO TO menu appears on the TV screen.
30 Pla ying a D VD VR Format Disc This unit will play D VD-R/RW discs recorded using the D VD-Video format that hav e been finalized using a D VD-recorder . This unit will play D VD-RW discs recorded using the Video Recording (VR) format. Inser t a disc and close the tra y , It star t playing automatically .
Reference Language Codes List Use this list to input your desired language for the following initial settings: Disc A udio , Disc Subtitle, Disc Menu. Language Code Abkhazian 6566 Afar 6565 Afrikaans .
32 T roub leshooting Check the follo wing guide for the possible cause of a problem bef ore contacting ser vice. Symptom Cause Correction No power . The power cord is disconnected. • Plug the power cord into the wall outlet securely . • Abnormal or no picture The TV is not set to receive D VD+VCR signal output.
Symptom Cause Correction The D VD+VCR does not star t playbac k. No disc is inser ted. No tape is inser ted. • • Inser t a disc or tape. (Check that the disc or tape indicator in the display window is lit.) • An unpla yab le disc is inser ted. • Inser t a play able disc.
