7 ENGLISH BASIC OPERA TIONS 3 Adjust the volume. 4 Adjust the sound as you want (see page 19). T o drop the volume in a moment Press SOURCE for more than 1 second while listening to any source . “A TT” star ts flashing on the displa y , and the volume le vel will drop in a moment.
8 ENGLISH T o stop searching before a station is received, press the same button you have pressed for searching. T o tune in FM stations only with strong signals 1 Press MODE BAND . “MODE” appears on the lower par t of the displa y , and the number buttons can w ork as diff erent function buttons.
9 ENGLISH Storing stations in memor y Y ou can use one of the f ollowing two methods to store broadcasting stations in memor y . • A utomatic preset of FM stations: SSM (Strong- station Sequential M.
10 ENGLISH Manual preset Y ou can preset up to 6 stations in each band (FM1, FM2, FM3 and AM) manually . Ex.: Storing an FM station of 88.3 MHz into the preset number 1 of the FM1 band 1 Select the band (FM1). 1 Press SOURCE to select FM as the source.
11 ENGLISH RDS OPERA TIONS What you can do with RDS EON RDS (Radio Data System) allows FM stations to send an additional signal along with their regular programme signals. For example, the stations send their station names, as well as information about what type of programme they broadcast, such as sports or music, etc.
12 ENGLISH The same programme can be received on diff erent frequencies. T o deactivate the T A standby mode, press TP/RDS again. PTY Standby Reception When you press PTY while listening to an FM station, the PTY indicator is lit during reception of a PTY station and the PTY standby mode is engaged.
13 ENGLISH 4 Press SEL (select) to finish the setting. Selecting your favourite programme for PTY Standby Reception Y ou can select your f av ourite programme f or PTY Standby Reception to store in memory . When shipped from the f actor y , “NEWS” is stored as the programme type for PTY Standby Reception.

15 ENGLISH Changing the display mode while listening to an FM station Y ou can change the initial indication on the displa y to either station name (PS NAME) or to station frequency (FREQUENCY), while listening to an FM RDS station. • See also “Changing the general settings (PSM)” on page 22.
16 ENGLISH Playing a CD 1 Open the loading slot. The display panel moves down, and the loading slot appears. 2 Insert a disc into the loading slot. The unit draws in a CD, the display panel moves up, and CD play star ts automatically .

19 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound characteristics to your pref erence. 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustab le items change as f ollo ws: Indication T o do: Range BASS Adjust the bass.

(Advanced SCM) Selecting and storing the sound modes Once you select a sound mode , it is stored in memor y . It will be recalled e v er y time you select the same source and will be shown on the displa y .
21 ENGLISH Recalling the sound modes When “SCM LINK” is set to “SCM LINK ON,” select the source. The sound mode stored in memory for the selected source is recalled. Notes: • Y ou can adjust each sound mode to your pr eference, and stor e it in memory .

When shipped from the f actory , a different sound mode can be stored in memory for each source so that you can change the sound modes simply by changing the sources.
25 ENGLISH T o adjust the display contrast level — CONTRAST Y ou can adjust the displa y contrast lev el among “01” (dark) to “10” (br ight).
26 ENGLISH T o change the FM tuner selectivity — IF FIL TER In some areas, adjacent stations ma y interfere with each other . If this interference occurs , noise ma y be heard. This unit has been preset to automatically reduce this interf erence noise (“A UT O”) when shipped from the f actory .

If y ou ha ve another CD automatic changer , consult y our JVC IN-CAR ENTER T AINMENT dealer f or connections. • F or e xample , if your CD automatic changer is one of the KD-MK series, you need a cor d (KS-U15K) for connecting it to this unit.
