4 BASIC OPERA TIONS T urning on the power 1 T urn on the power . Note on One-T ouch Operation: When you select a sour ce in step 2 below , the power automatically comes on. Y ou do not have to pr ess this button to turn on the power . 2 Select the sour ce .
5 Setting the clock 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds. “ CLOCK H ” or “ CLOCK M ” appears on the displa y . 2 Set the hour . 1 Select “ CLOCK H ” (hour) if not shown on the displa y . 2 Adjust the hour . 12 3 Set the minute.
6 RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Note: When a cassette is in the cassette compartment, you cannot select the tuner . Be sure to eject the cassette fr om the cassette compartment to listen to the radio.
7 MO (monaural) indicator When an FM stereo broadcast is hard to receive: Press MO (monaural), while listening to an FM stereo broadcast. Each time you press the b utton, the MO indicator lights up and goes off alternately . When the MO indicator is lit on the displa y , the sound you hear becomes monaural b ut the reception will be improv ed.
8 4 Repeat the abo ve procedure to store other stations into other preset number s. Notes: • A previously pr eset station is erased when a new station is stor ed in the same preset number . • Preset stations ar e erased when the power supply to the memory cir cuit is interrupted (for example, during battery r eplacement).
9 T o stop play and eject the cassette Press 0 . T ape play stops , the cassette automatically ejects from the cassette compar tment. The source changes to the pre viously selected one. • Y ou cannot change the source if the cassette is still in the cassette compar tment.
10 SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound characteristics to your preference . 1 Select the item you want to adjust. Each time you press the button, the adjustab le items change as follo ws: Indication T o do: Range BAS Adjust the bass.
11 Selecting preset sound modes Y ou can select a preset sound adjustment suitable to the m usic genre. Select the sound mode you want. Each time you press the b utton, the sound mode changes as follo ws: Indication For: Preset values BAS TRE S.
12 DET ACHING THE C0NTROL P ANEL Y ou can detach the control panel when leaving the car . When detaching or attaching the control panel, be careful not to damage the connectors on the back of the control panel and on the panel holder . Detaching the control panel Before detaching the control panel, be sure to turn off the power .
13 TROUBLESHOOTING What appears to be trouble is not alw ays serious. Check the f ollowing points before calling a service center . Remedies Adjust it to the optimum le vel. Check the cords and connections. While holding SEL, press for more than 2 seconds to reset the unit.
14 MAINTENANCE This unit requires very little attention, but y ou will be able to e xtend the life of the unit if y ou follo w the instructions below . T o clean the head • Clean the heads after e very 10 hours of use using a wet-type head cleaning tape (a vailable at an audio store).
