Caution –– STANDBY/ON button! Disconnect the mains plug to shut the power off completely (the STANDBY/ON lamp goes off). The switch in any position does not disconnect the mains line. • When the unit is on standby , the ST ANDBY/ON lamp lights red.
CAUTION • Do not block the ventilation openings or holes. (If the ventilation openings or holes are blocked by a newspaper or cloth, etc., the heat may not be able to get out.) • Do not place any naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, on the apparatus.

– 10 – English Common Operations T urning On the Power When you press the play b utton — CD 3 / 8 , T APE 2 3 , or the source selecting button — FM/AM, and MD/A UX (UX- P5) or A UX (UX-P3), the unit automatically turns on and starts playback if the source is ready .
– 11 – English Setting the AM T uner Inter val Spacing When shipped, the AM tuner interval is set to 9 kHz or 10 kHz spacing. Y ou can change it to 10 kHz or 9 kHz spacing.
– 12 – English Reinforcing the Bass Sound Y ou can reinforce the bass sound to maintain ric h (“ AHB 1” and “ AHB 2”), full bass at low v olume.
– 13 – English Listening to FM and AM Broadcasts T uning in a Station 1 Pr ess FM/AM. The unit automatically turns on and tunes in the previously tuned sta tion (either FM or AM). • Each time you press the button, the band alternates between FM and AM.

– 19 – English CD Direct Recording Everything on the CD goes onto the tape in the order it is on the CD, or according to the order you ha ve made for Program play . On the unit ONL Y : 1 Put a r ecordable cassette in with the exposed part of the tape down.
– 20 – English Using the T imers There are three timers a vailable — Daily T imer, Recor ding T imer , and Sleep Timer . Before using the timers, you need to set the clock built in the unit (see page 10.) When you press TIMER on the unit for more than 3 seconds, the display alternates between “ ADJUST” and “CLOCK” for about 5 seconds.

– 22 – English Maintenance T o get the best perfor mance of the unit, keep your discs, tapes, and mechanism c lean. Handling discs • Remove the disc from its case by holding it at the edge while pressing the center hole lightly . • Do not touch the shiny surface of the disc, or bend the disc.
