1. Instal l the Software Insert the S oftware Installation CD into your lapto p's CD drive, and follow the onscree n instructio ns. If pro mpted, restart y our lapto p after s oftware installatio n.
3. Connect the USB Cable to the Doc king Stati on Connect the " B" end o f the USB cable provid ed to a matchi ng port on th e back panel of the Docking Stati on. 4. Connect Your Monitor to the Doc king Stati on Plug your monitor' s DVI cab le into the DVI/ VGA connector on the back panel of t he Docking Station .
5. Connect the USB Cable to Your Not ebook Connect the " A" end o f the USB cable to y our laptop. The attache d monitor i s set as your main displ ay (showing t he Windows task bar at t he bottom of the screen), and your laptop screen i s set a s your extended display (showi ng your Wind ows d eskt op).
Using Your Docking Station You may con n ect devices to t heir respecti ve ports on the Docking Station whi le your laptop is running. A sligh t delay is norm al before the lap top recogniz es new de vices. If you exp erience p roblem s using y our Doc king Sta tion, pleas e see Troubleshooting for help.

Extend The Extend opt ion sets your laptop screen as the primary dis play and the attached moni tor as the extended di splay. Notebook Monito r Off The Notebook Moni tor off option sets the attac hed monitor as the primary display and turns your laptop screen off .

Screen Resolution Screen r esolution refers to the number of p ixels di splayed o nscreen hor izontal ly and ver tically. A high er resolu tion mea ns that yo u can s ee more of your im age on the scre en without scrol ling or panni ng.
Color Quali ty Color qualit y d efines t he number of diff erent colors that can be shown on the screen at t he same time. The greater the color quality, the better the picture quality. Screen Rotation T he picture on your screen may be r otated as requir ed.

Securing Your Docking Station You can u se the Kensi ngton sec urity s lot to connect a Kensingto n Lock (s old separa tely) t o secure your Docking Station by locki ng it to your desk. See the user manual of the K - Lock device for f urther inst ructions on how t o use the device.
Other Device s If another devic e is connected to a port on the Docki ng Station and t he laptop goes int o Standby o r Hibernat e Mode, t hat devic e will not func tion. F or example, if you are usi ng a USB 2.0 port t o connect an exter nal USB device, the device will not be available until the laptop returns to an a ctive state.
