6 EN Names and functions of parts Main Unit Standby mode While the standby indicator is lit, a small amount of power is supplied to the system to back-up the memory. This is called standby mode. Under the condition, the system can be turned ON by the remote control unit.

16 EN Preparing for surround sound Speaker settings To enable you to obtain optimum enjoyment from this model’s listening modes, make sure to complete the speaker settings (Subwoofer, Front, Center, Surround and Surround Back speakers) as described below.

DOLBY DIGITAL can be used when playing DVD or LD software bearing the mark and DOLBY DIGITAL format digital broadcasts (etc.). DOLBY PRO LOGIC can be used when playing video, DVD, or LD software bearing the mark.

27 EN Convenient functions Adjusting the sound You can make further adjustments to the sound while listening to playback in the surround mode. 1 Press the SOUND key until the desired item appears in the display.
28 EN Ambience effects Dimension mode (Pro Logic II x Music mode and Pro Logic II Music mode only) When listening to music with certain recordings, you will also be able to achieve a suitable balance from all the speakers by adjusting the dimension mode.
29 EN DVD player operation keys The remote control of this unit can control KENWOOD DVD players directly without using the remote control supplied with the DVD player.
30 EN Amplifier In case of difficulty Resetting the Microcomputer The microcomputer may malfunction (unit cannot be operated, or shows an erroneous display) if the power cord is unplugged while the power is ON, or due to some other external factor.
31 EN In case of difficulty Remote control unit Symptom Remote control operation is not possible. Cause • The remote control is set to the DVD player operation mode.
