E Q U I P M E N T S A F E T Y G U I D E L I N E S Safety of the operator an d bystanders is o ne of th e main concerns in designing and devel- oping a tiller. However, every year a ccidents occur which could have been avoided by a few second s of thought and a more careful approach to handling equipment.
8 ROT AR Y TILLER ASSEMBL Y INSTRU CTIONS S T E P 1 With rotary t iller still in crate, lay flat on a level s urface . Cut banding straps on the tw o (2) up right crate pos ts. S T E P 2 Remove the top & upper side sections of the crate, leav ing the rotary t i l l e r resting on the bottom s ection.
9 STEP 6 Fill side ge arbox us ing gea r oil until the oil begins to ov erflow f rom the check plug hole . See Figure F on nex t page. STEP 7 Replace and tighten the 1/2‖ v ent plug and t he 1/8" check plug. Clean away an y excess oi l. See Figure G on nex t page.

13 O P E R A T I O N A L S A F E T Y The use of this equipment is subject t o certain hazards that cannot be protected against by t he mec hanical means or product design. All operators of this equip- ment must read and understand this entire manual, paying particular attention to safety and operating instructions , prior to using.

15 O P E R A T I O N A L S A F E T Y c o n t i n u e d . . . Pass rotary tiller diagonally through sharp dips and avoid sharp drops to prevent ―hanging up‖ tractor and rotary tiller . Practice will improve your s kills in maneu - vering on rough t errain.

17 A T TA C H I N G T O T R A C T O R c o n t i n u e d . . . . S T E P 5 Place and hold inner PTO s haft section next to outer section and check if PTO shaft is too long. Each section should end approximately 3 inches short of reaching u-joint shield on the opposite section.

Clamp end of PT O shaft in a vice and cut off shield wher e marked. (Figu re 1-A & 1- B) S T E P 2 Using cut section of the shield as a guide cut shaft of f t he same amount.

Never travel at a fast ground speed w hile u sing the tiller , this cou ld damage it. Never attempt to turn the tractor o r travel in reverse w ith the PT O eng aged and the tiller in the ground. A lwa y s raise the tiller out o f the ground w hen ba cking up or attempting to turn.
Be sure electrical outlets and tools are properly grounded Use adequate ligh t for the job at hand . Make sure there is plenty ventilation. Never operate the engine of the towing vehicle in a close d building. The exhaust fumes may cause asphyx iation.
