8 3. Insert bread or other food to be toasted into slot. 4. Turn the Shade Control to select the degree of darkness you want. The digital display will show the selected shade level. Turn the Shade Control clockwise for darker toast, counterclockwise for lighter.
To cancel toasting anytime, lift gently on the Easy Lift™ lever. The toaster will shut off and the Soft Rise™ system will gently raise the toast for removal. 9 Using Y our KitchenAid ® T oaster MODELS KTT460 and KTT570 5. Push the Easy Lift™ lever down until it locks in place.
10 You can select – or cancel – any of the special toasting functions by pressing the appropriate button either before or after you lower the Easy Lift™ lever to begin toasting. The function lights will indicate which functions are selected. After a toasting cycle is complete, all functions will be cleared.

14 Note: Different types of bread and their moisture levels may require different shade settings. For example, dry bread will brown more rapidly than moist bread and will require a lighter setting. For even toasting, toast only one bread type and thickness at a time.
15 After you lower the Easy Lift™ lever to begin toasting, you can select the special toasting functions by pressing the appropriate button. The function lights will indicate which function is selected. After a toasting cycle is complete, all functions will be cleared.
16 1. Unplug the toaster and let it cool before cleaning. 2. Slide out the crumb tray and shake the crumbs into a waste container. It is recommended that the crumb tray be emptied after each use. The crumb tray is dishwasher safe. Remember: the tray will be hot immediately following a toasting cycle.
17 Honey-Orange Butter 1 ⁄ 2 cup very soft butter, margarine, or reduced-calorie margarine 2 tablespoons orange juice concentrate, thawed 1 tablespoon honey 1 ⁄ 2 teaspoon cinnamon Add all ingredients to food processor. Process until thoroughly mixed, about 30 seconds.
