RB-525-B04 1 INTRODUCTION This manual co ntains inform ation on correct handli ng and op erational proced ures as well as safety consideration pert inent to KW -2000 Before carrying out measurement and/or adjustm ent, re ad the instruct ions thoroughly so that ef fective operation is ensure d.

RB-525-B04 6 2. Conveyance and Handling Procedure When transporting the instrume nt, make sur e that the body has been secur ely locked. Center the body on to the base so that their edge s are aligned. Push dow n the lock while turni ng right until both body and base are firmly fixed to each oth er .
RB-525-B04 7 4. Safeguard Summary 1. KW-2000 is a precisi on optical instr ument. Always handle wi th care and a void dropping i t accidentally . 2. Ensure that the ins trument is properly grounded when connected to the power source.
RB-525-B04 8 5. Preparation 5.1 Setting (1) Set a roll of printer paper in the printer . Refer to ' 1 1.1 Reloadin g Printer Paper ' for the procedure. (2) Set and fix the chin rest liners wi th the chin rest liner pins on the c hin rest. Refer to the figure on the right.
RB-525-B04 9 5.2 Applying P o we r (1) Confirm that the power is 'OFF' ( ). (2) Insert the power c ord into the instrument' s power plug connector . Then in sert the plug int o a general-purpose outlet. (3) T urn the power switch 'ON' ( ).

RB-525-B04 12 6. Measurement 6.1 Measurem e n t Flow (1) Rotate an anti-sliding lo ck clo ckwis e to release it. (2) Have the exam inee place his/her chi n on the chin rest and his/her forehead ag ainst th e head rest . Then, have him/her see a tar get.
RB-525-B04 13 6.2 Alignmen t (1) Operate a joystick t o bring a ce nter of the subject eye onto a reticle mark. When the subject eye is focused on, a kerato ring appears. (2) Keeping the reticl e mark in the center of the subject eye, try to focus the subject eye, and t hen, an alignm ent mark ( ) will appear .

RB-525-B04 15 6.4 Print Out Normally y ou can print out th e m easurem ent result by pressing PR INT switch after the m easurement. (The icon of PRINT switch in the m onitor turns into bl ue during printi ng.) A maxim um of ten data is recor ded for each eye and the most reliab le among them is indicated as an optimum value.
RB-525-B04 16 6.5 Kerato-Pe r i pheral Measurement KW-2000 incorporat es a function to measure not on ly a cent er but also periph eries of a cornea. (1) Press a measurement m ode selection switch to switch over to P .
RB-525-B04 17 (3) Measure the corneal periphery . Have the examinee look at the fixati on tar get that is illuminating. A m easure ment position in the gui ding mark is indicated in blue.
RB-525-B04 18 6.6 IOL Meas u r ement KW-2000 has the fu nction to m easure the IOL (intraocular lens) implanted eye. When measuring the IOL implante d ey e, press IOL swit ch on the front panel of the body to ac tivate the function. At this time, the icon for IOL switch as well as S, C, and A on the LCD monitor t urns to purple .

MANUAL: Measurement is taken every time the m easure ment switch is pressed. AUTO 3 : Measurement is automatically star ted when the m easurement requirements are m et.

RB-525-B04 25 III. RS232C Setting Function W ith this function , you can send the m easurement data to an external computer t hrough an interface. The data is sent using ASCII CODE. When you select this m enu, the screen on the left will appear and f unction of each switch will c hange as shown.
RB-525-B04 26 (1) Move the cursor to the item you wish to set/ change with switch and execute with switch. (2) When the setting is completed, pr ess switch to go ba ck to the m enu screen.
RB-525-B04 27 6.8 Auto Star t F u nction KW-2000 incorporat es Auto Start Function. This function st arts measuring aut omatically when a lignment m eets the measurement requirement, a nd also prints out autom atically when the measurement of b oth eyes com pletes.
RB-525-B04 28 (6) After both eyes are measured, t he arrow will disappear and the measurem ent result will be automatically printed out. (7) If you wish to conti nue to measure with auto start function , realignment is necessary .
RB-525-B04 29 6.9 Data Scre e n F unction Data screen function allows you to check measur em ent results saved in the m emory on the screen. (1) Select ' ON ' in ' DA T A SCREEN ' of the Menu screen. (2) After the measurement, press switch, and the data screen will app ear as shown on the left.
RB-525-B04 30 6.10 Power Sa v i ng Function Power saving function will st art operating when swit ch operation is suspended with the power on. (The switchover tim e (in minute) can be selected at ' SA VE ' on the mode selection screen.
RB-525-B04 31 7. Tips for Effective Measurement (1) Do not allow externa l light to dire ctly penetrate t he room. (2) Fluctuation of va lues during measurem ent may occur if the examinee looks s omething other t han the target. Ur ge the examinee to concentrate on t he tar get set in front.
RB-525-B04 32 8. Error Messages KW-2000 autom atically evaluates measurement co ndition or result and indicates error m essages if it is invalid. Error messages als o appear when abnorm ality is detected in its operational system . When any error m essage appears, always check the sy stem with a supplied model eye.
RB-525-B04 33 9. Contact Lens: Base Curve Measurement Y ou can measure a base c urve of a hard c ontact lens wit h KW-2000. T o do so, attach a contact l ens onto a contac t lens holder of t he model eye as following. (1) Put a small am ount of water on a concave side of th e contact lens holder .
RB-525-B04 34 10. T roubleshooting If there are any m alfunction found, refer to the table below to take appr opriate measures. CAUTION Never disassemble, modify or repair the instrum ent. Personal injury may result from elect ric shock. Symptom Causes and Measures The monitor and power indicator are not turned on.
RB-525-B04 35 11. Storage and Maintenance 11.1 Reloading P ri n ter Paper 1) Remove a printer cover a nd take a printer paper shaft out. 2) Lift a printer cutter p art and pull up a head-up lever . 3) Set a roll of printer paper , paying attention to direction of the paper rolled up.
RB-525-B04 36 11.2 Fuse Rep l a cement CAUTION When replacing a fuse, unplug the power cord from the unit before removing the fuse holder . Y ou may be in danger of electric sh ock if you remove the fuse holder without unpluggi ng the po wer cord. When a fuse is blow n, remove a fuse h older at the side of a main uni t for replacem ent.
