Introd uctio n 1 1I n t r o d u c t i o n The K y ocera KR1 Mobile Router is a high-perf orm ance tool that supports wireless networking at home, w ork, or in a public place.

Selecting this option will allow you to set your Wir eless Access Point (W AP) settings. Sele cting Disabled, will gr ey-out all S ecurity radio buttons (please see “ Secu rity ” below).

The default setting does not cont ain a Passph rase . Passphrase- T o enable your WP A-PSK, enter your eight to 63 alpha-nume ric Pa ssphrase .

The inf or mation on this page will onl y be used when your serv ice pro vider requires you to enter a User Name and Password to connect to the EVDO network.
14 Kyocera KR1 Mobi le Router User G uide Basic > LAN LAN is shor t f or Local Area Network, and is considered your intern al network. These are the IP settings of the LAN interface f or the K yocera KR1 Mobile Router , and they may be referred to as Private sett ings.
Using th e Configur ation Menu 15 Basic > DHCP DHCP stands f or Dynamic Host Control Protocol. The K y ocera KR1 Mobile Router h as a built-in DHCP ser ver , which automatically assigns an IP address to the computer s on the LA N/private network.
16 Kyocera KR1 Mobi le Router User G uide Advanced > Virtual Server The K y ocera KR1 Mobile Router can be configured as a virtual ser ver so that remote users accessing W eb or FTP ser vices via the public IP address can be autom atically redir ected to local ser vers in the LAN (Local Area Networ k).
Using th e Configur ation Menu 17 Public Port- The port number on the W AN (Wide Area Networ k) side that is used to access the virtual ser vice. Schedule- The schedule of time when the vir tual ser vice gets enabled. The schedule ma y be set to Always , wh ich allows the part icular ser vice to always be enabled.
18 Kyocera KR1 Mobi le Router User G uide Advanced > Applications Some applications requ ire multiple connections, such as Inter net gaming, video c onf erencing, Int ernet telephony and other s. These applications have difficulties working through NA T (Networ k Address T ranslation).
Using th e Configur ation Menu 19 Advanced > Filter s > IP Filters Filter s- Filters are used to deny or allow LAN (Local A rea Netw ork) computer s from accessing the Inter net. The K yocer a KR1 Mobile Router can be setup to deny inter nal computer s by their IP or MA C addresses.

Using th e Configur ation Menu 21 Advanced > Firewall Firewall Rules is an advanced feature used to deny or allow traffic from passing through the K yocera KR1 Mobile Router . It wor ks in the same way as IP Filters with additional settings. Y ou can create more detailed access rule s f o r the K y ocera KR1 Mobile Router .
22 Kyocera KR1 Mobi le Router User G uide Advanced > DMZ If you hav e a client PC that cannot run Internet ap plications properly from behind the K y ocera KR1 Mobile Router , then you can set the client u p f or unrestr icted Inter net access. It allows a comput er to be exposed to the Internet.

The Preambl e defines the lengt h of the CRC block (Cyclic Redundancy Check is a comm on technique f or detecting data transmission error s) f or communication between the K yocera KR1 Mobile Router and the roaming wireless network adapter s.

The Admin account option allows read/write access. The Us er acco unt option allows f or read-only access on l y .

If you input an aster isk (*) into this field, then an y compu ter is able to access the Router . Putting an aster isk (*) into this field would present a security r isk and is not recom men de d.

Using th e Configur ation Menu 29 T ools > Firmware Y ou can u pgr ade the fir mware of the K y ocera KR1 Mobile R outer from this menu. Ensure the firmware you want to use is on the loca l hard drive of your computer . Click on Browse to browse and loc ate the fir mware to be used for your update.
30 Kyocera KR1 Mobi le Router User G uide T ools > DDNS DDNS- T o use the Dynamic Domain Name Ser ver update the client built in to the router , click Enabled. By default the DDNS is Disabled . Server Add ress- Choose your DDNS provider fr om the drop down menu.
