1 1 Chapter 1 Introduction This Chapter provides details of the LevelOne IP Network Camera's feat ures, components and capabilities. Overview The LevelOne IP Network Camera has an Integrated Micr.
• Suitable for Home, Business or Public Facilities . Whether for Home, Business or Public Facility surveillance, or just for entertainment and fun, the LevelOne IP Network Camera has the features y ou need.
Physical Details Figure 2: LevelOne IP Network Camera Front-mounted LEDs Ready On - Power o n. Off - No power. Blinking - The Ready LED will blink during start up. This will take 15 to 20 seconds. Active Off - Idle. Blinking - LevelOne IP Network C amera is pr oviding a live vide o stream to at least one viewer.
Password settings will be set to their default values. • IP address: 192.1 68.0.99 • Administrator ID: adm inistrator • Administrator Password: null (n o password) Note : After this procedure is comp leted, all LEDs will blink three times to confirm that the re set was completed successfully.
5 2 Chapter 2 Basic Setup This Chapter provides det ails of installing and configuri ng the LevelOne IP Network Camera. System Requirements • To use the LAN interface, a st andard 10/100BaseT hub or switch and net work cable is required.
For the WCS-2000, this disables the Wireless Interf ace, because only one interface can be activ e. The LAN interface is recommended for initial configuration. The default Wireless settings for the WCS -2000 are: Mode: Infrastructure Channel: 11 ESSID: w ireless WEP: Disabled 3.
Setup Initial setup should be performed using the supplied Windo ws-based setup Wizard. Th is program can locate the LevelOne IP Network Camera even if its IP address is invalid for your network. Yo u can then co nfigure the Level One IP Netw ork Camera wit h appropriate TC P/IP settings for your LAN.
4. Select the desired Camera from the list on the left. The current setting s for the selected Camera will be displayed in the table on the right. 5. Clic k Next to continue. 6. If t he Administrator ID and Password have been set, y ou will be prompted to enter them, as shown below.
Figure 8: TCP/IP Set tings 9. Enter t he desir ed IP addres s values: • Enter an unused IP Address from within the address range used on your L AN. • The Subnet Mask and Default Gateway fields must match the values used by PCs on your LAN. • Click Next to continue.

After clicking Save , you will see the screen below. You can click the Web UI button to connect to th e camera using your Web Bro w ser.

Controlling User Access to the Video Stream By default, al l users can conn ect to the LevelOne IP Network C amera and view l ive Video. If desired, you can limit access to known users, by requiring each user to login to the LevelOne IP Network Ca mera with t heir individ ual usernam e and password.
Making Video available from the Internet If your LAN is connecte d to the Internet, t ypically by a Broadband Gateway/Router an d Broadband m odem, you ca n make the Leve lOne IP Net work Came ra available via the I nternet.
Figure 15: DDNS Settings - Network Screen 3. Operation is then auto matic: • The LevelOne IP Network Camera will then automatically c ontact the DDNS server whenever it detects that the Internet IP a ddress has chan ged, and inform the DDNS server of the new IP address .
Viewing via the Internet Clients (viewers) will also need a broadband connection; dial-up connections are NOT recommended. Using the Windows Viewing/Recording Utility If using the Windows Viewing/Recording Utility, the details of the LevelOne IP Network Ca mera mu st b e en te red on the Internet tab of the Add Camera screen.
Motion Detection/E-mail Alerts The Motion Detection feature will capture a short video and send it to your E-mail address when motion i s detected. The LevelOne IP Network Camera will compare consecutive frames to detect changes caused by the moveme nt of large objects.
18 4 Chapter 4 W eb-based Management This Chapter provides Setup details of the LevelOne IP Network C amera’s Web-based Interface. This C hapt er is for Administrat ors only. Introduction The LevelOne IP Network Cam era can be confi gured using your Web Browser.
Welcome Screen When you connect, the following screen will be displayed. Figure 19: Welcome Screen The menu options available from this screen are: • View Video - View live Vi deo using you r Web Browser. • Administration - Access the Adm inistration menu.
View Video Screen This screen is displayed when the View Video menu option is selected . Figure 20: View Video Screen • If using Internet Explo rer on Windows, you may see a prompt reg arding an "ActiveX control", like the exam ple below. You must allow this ActiveX control in order to view the Video.
Administration Menu Clicki ng on Administration on the menu provides access to all the settings for the LevelOne IP Network Cam era. The Administration menu contains t he following options: • System.
NTP (Network Time Protocol) Time Server Enable or di sable the Tim e Server feature as requi red. If Enabled, the LevelOne IP Network Camera will contact a Network Time Server at regular intervals and update its internal timer. Server Address Enter the addr ess for the desired NTP serv er.
Data - Network Screen IP Setting Obtain Address Automatically If selected, the LevelOne IP Network Cam era will obtain its IP address and related informat ion from a DHCP Serve r. Only select this option if your LAN has a DHCP Server. The fields below can the n be ignored.
Host Name Enter the host name (Dom ain Name ) allocated to you by the DDNS Server provid er. Account Enter the login name for the DDNS account. Password Enter the pass word for the D DNS account. Check WAN IP Schedule Set the schedul e for checking if the Internet IP address has changed.
WEP Screen (WCS-2000 only) This screen is accessed by clicking the Confi gure WEP button on th e Network screen. An example WEP screen is shown below. Figure 24: WEP Screen Data - WEP Screen WEP Encryption WEP Encryption Select th e option used on your Wireless LAN.
The other key values are optional, and are used only for decrypting data. This all ows you to use different key s for transm itting and receiving, if required. When inputting a key valu e, follow these rules: • For 64 Bit Encryption, key s must be 10 c haracters.
Image Screen This screen is displayed when the Image menu opti on is clicked. Figure 25: Image Screen Data - Image Screen Video Settings Resolution Select the desir ed video resol uti on format. A larger size requires more bandwidth. Image Quality Select the desired image quali ty .
User Screen This screen is displayed when the User op tion on the Administration menu is clicked. Figure 26: User Screen Data - User Screen Admin Login Administrator ID Enter the name for t he Administrato r logi n. Spaces, punctuation, and special characters must NOT be use d in the name.
User Databa se User List This lists all users who currently exist. Use the Add , Delete , and Modify buttons to manage t his database. Alerts E-Mail Alert Enable the check box if you want to send an E-Mail Alert when motion is detected.
Status Screen . Figure 28: Status Screen Data - Status Screen Status Device Name This is the default name for the LevelOne IP Network C amera, and cannot be changed.
Upgrade Firmware Screen This screen is displayed when you click th e Upgrade Firmware button on the Status screen. Before using this screen, your must down load the upgrade file to your PC.
32 5 Chapter 5 Viewing & Recording This Chapter describes how to view and record the l ive video stream generated by t he LevelOne IP Network Camer a. Overview The recomm ended method to view vide o is to use t he supplied Wi ndows Viewing/ Recording utility.
System Tray Icon When started, the program will create an icon in the Windows system tray on the taskbar, as shown below. Figure 31: System Tray Icon This Icon has the following functions: • Animation - If a recording is in progress, th is icon will be animated.
Cameras - Camera List • The Camera List displays all LevelOne IP N etwork Cam era you have defined. If y ou have not defined any cameras, this list will be empty. • Click the Add Cam era button to ad d a LevelOne IP Network Camera. See the following section for further details.
Port Number This will normally display "80". Only change th is if requested to do so the LevelOne IP Net work Cam era Administrat or. Login The camera Administrator ca n require that users provide a username and password bef ore being allo wed to vie w the live vi deo.

Viewing Live Video To view live video, select a camera in the Camera List on the main screen, and click the View button. You will see a screen like the example below. Figure 36 Viewing Live Vid eo Controls are provided to stop and start viewing, and to start recor ding the vide o stream.
Recording Video You can rec ord Video whi le watching, or schedule reco rdings to occ ur when you are a bsent. Recordings are stored in a standa rd Microsoft A SF file form at, and can be play ed using Microsoft Media Player. Before doi ng any recor ding, you s hould revi ew the Recording Preferences to ensure they are suitable for your PC.
• To Stop a recording in progress, select it and click the Stop butto n. • To Start a Recording, click the Record button on th e View screen. Figure 39 Viewing Live Vid eo Record Button .
Scheduled Recordings Recordings can be schedule d at any tim e, for any know n LevelOne IP Network Cam era. (Of course, your PC must be on at th e scheduled time.) To use this feature , click the Schedule button un der the Recordings panel on the m ain screen.
Schedule Type Select the desir ed option: • One Time - Only one (1 ) recording is m ade, on the specified date, at the specified time. • Everyday - The recording is made eve ry day, at the specified time. The Start Day indicates when the first recording will be made.
Viewing with your Web Browser The recomm ended method to view live vi deo from the LevelOne IP Network Ca mera is use t he Windows utility. However, you can also use your Web browser if necessary. Viewing over your LAN To establish a connection from your PC to the LevelOn e IP Network Camera: 1.

Viewing via the Internet If LAN with the LevelOne IP Network Camera is connected to the Internet, and co nfigured correctly, you can connect to the Le velOne IP Networ k Camera via the Internet. See Making Video available from th e Internet in Chapter 3 for details of the required LAN configuration.
