K Power Mac G4 Cube 073-0542 Battery Replacement Instructions Be sure to f ollow these instructions carefully . F ailure to follo w these instructions could result in damage to your equipment and ma y void your warr anty . Replacing the batter y requires fiv e basic steps: • Turn off the computer.
2 - Power Mac G4 Cube Battery Removing the Computer Cor e From the Enclosur e W arning: Al ways turn off your computer bef ore opening it to av oid damaging its internal components. 1 Place your computer on a clean, flat surf ace. 2 Shut down y our computer by opening the Special menu and choosing Shut Down.
Power Mac G4 Cube Battery - 3 7 Push down on the latch to release it. Allow the latch to extend completely. 8 Gently pull the core from the computer enclosure and place it on a soft cloth.
4 - Power Mac G4 Cube Battery Replacing the Battery 1 Note the orientation of the installed batter y’ s positive (+) end. (P ositive and negative signs are also mark ed on the batter y holder .) 2 At the batter y’ s positive end, place y our finger betw een the battery and the holder .
Power Mac G4 Cube Battery - 5 Replacing the Computer Cor e in the Enclosure 1 Holding the core by the latch, insert the core into the computer . Note: The core fits into the enclosure only one way. Position the core so the ports are toward the back of the enclosure.
6 - Power Mac G4 Cube Battery 3. T ur n your computer upright and reconnect all cables . 4. Restar t your computer . W arning: Ne ver turn on your computer unless all of its internal and external parts are in place and it is closed. Operating the computer when it is open or missing parts can damage your computer or cause injury .
