Therefore, y ou will want to set up your voicemail and personal greeting as soon as y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone is activated.

T ur ning Y our Phone On and Of f T ur ning Y our Phone On T o tur n your phone on: 䊳 Press and hold for approximatel y two seconds. Once your phone is on, it ma y display “Searching f or Service, ” which indicates that your phone is searc hing for a signal.
Using Y our Phone ’ s Batt ery and Charg er Batt ery Capacity Y our Spr int PCS V ision Phone is equipped with a Lithium Ion (LiIon) batter y . It allows you to rec harge your battery before it is full y drained. The batter y provides approximately 2.
Charging the Bat tery Y our Spr int PCS V ision Phone’ s LiIon batter y is rec hargeable and should be charg ed as soon as possible so you can begin using your phone.
Displa ying Y our Phone Number Just in case y ou forget y our phone number , your Sprint PCS Vision Phone can remind you. T o display your phone number: 䊳 Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu, select Settings ( ), and select Phone Info ( ).
Dialing Options When you enter numbers in standby mode, you will see a variety of dialing options appear as softkeys on the phone’ s display screen. T o initiate an option, press the corresponding softke y button.
Answer ing Calls T o answer an incoming call: 1. Make sure your phone is on. (If your phone is off, incoming calls go to v oicemail.) 2. Press to answer an incoming call. (Depending on y our phone’ s settings, you ma y also answer incoming calls by opening the phone or by pressing any number key .
Missed Call Notification When an incoming call is not answ ered, the Missed Call log is display ed on your screen. T o display the Missed Call entry from the notification scr een: 䊳 Highlight the entr y and press . (T o dial the phone number , press .
End-of-Call Options After receiving a call from or making a call to a phone number that is not in your Phone Book, the phone number and the dur ation of the call are display ed. The right softke y displa ys the Save option. Select this option if you wish to add the new n umber to your Phone Book.
Finding a Phone Number Y ou can search Phone Book entries for phone numbers that contain a specific string of numbers. T o find a phone number: 1. Enter one or more digits in standby mode. (The more numbers you enter , the more specific the searc h becomes.
Dialing and Saving Phone Numbers With P auses Y ou can dial or save phone numbers with pauses for use with automated systems, such as v oicemail or credit card billing numbers. There are tw o types of pauses available on your phone: 䢇 Hard Pause sends the ne xt set of number s when y ou press the left softkey button.
Dialing Fr om the Phone Book T o dial directly fr om a Phone Book entry: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu. 2. Select Phone Book ( ) and Find Name () . 3. Highlight the entr y y ou want to call and press to dial the entr y’ s def ault phone number .
Ent er ing T ext Selecting a Charact er Input Mode Y our Spr int PCS V ision Phone provides convenient wa ys to enter words, letters, punctuation, and numbers whenever you are prompted to enter te xt (for e xample, when adding a Phone Book entr y or when sending Sprint PCS Mail and SMS T ext messages).
Enter ing Charact ers Using T9 T ext Input T9 T ext Input lets you enter te xt in your Sprint PCS V ision Phone by pressing keys just once per letter . (T o select the T9 W ord mode when entering text, see "Selecting a Character Input Mode" on pa g e 26.
Enter ing Charact ers by T apping the Ke ypad T o enter char acters b y tapping the ke ypad: 1. Select the Abc mode (see “Selecting a Character Input Mode” on page 26).

Sound Set tings Ringer T ypes Ringer types help y ou identify incoming calls and messages. Y ou can assign ringer types to individual phone book entries, types of calls, and types of messages. 䢇 Preprogrammed Ringers include a variety of standard ringer types and familiar music.
Selecting Ringer T ypes f or Messages T o select a ring er type for messag es: 1. Press Menu (left Softkey) to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings () . 3. Select Sounds () . 4. Select Ringers () . 5. Select Messages () . 6. Select Voicemail ( ) or Page/T ext ( ).
Adjusting the Phone ’ s V olume Set tings Y ou can adjust your phone’ s volume settings to suit your needs and your environment. T o adjust the ring er , k ey beep, earpiece, or power on/of f volume: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu.
Silence All There may be times when y ou need to silence your phone entirel y . The phone’ s Silence All option allows you to mute all sounds without turning your phone off. T o activat e Silence All: 䊳 With the phone open, pr ess and hold the volume key down in standby mode.
Changing the Backlight Time Length The backlight setting lets you select ho w long the display screen and keypad are backlit after any key press is made. T o change the bac klight setting: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings () .
Changing the Contrast Y ou can adjust your screen’ s contrast (brightness) to suit your surroundings. T o adjust the display ’ s contrast: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings () . 3. Select Display () . 4. Select Contrast () .
Changing the Clock Displa y Choose whether you want y our phone’ s clock to display in analog mode, digital mode, or with time and date. T o change the cloc k’ s appear ance on the standby scr een: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu.
Location Set tings Y our Spr int PCS V ision Phone is equipped with a Location feature f or use in connection with location-based services that may be available in the future. The Location featur e allows the network to detect y our position. T urning Location off will hide your location from everyone e xcept 911.
Messaging Set tings Staying connected to y our fr iends and f amily has never been easier . With y our phone’ s advanced messaging capabilities, you can send and receive man y different kinds of te xt messages without placing a voice call. (For more information, see “Understanding Messag ing” on page 101.
Deleting Old Messages Y ou can delete messa g es that you’ ve alr eady read whenever y ou like, or you can hav e your phone delete them automatically f or you. T o automatically delete r ead messages: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu.
Managing Canned Messages Y our phone is pre-set with twenty canned messages to help make sending te xt messages faster and easier . These messages, such as “Where are y ou?, ” “Let’s g et lunch, ” and “Meet me at, ” can be customized or deleted to suit your needs.
Air plane Mode Airplane Mode allows you to use man y of your phone’ s featur es, such as Games, Notepad, V oice Memos, etc., when you are in an airplane or in any other area wher e making or receiving calls or data is prohibited. When your phone is in Airplane Mode, it cannot send or receive an y calls or access online information.
T o tur n T TY Mode on or off: 1. From standby mode, press . (An informational message displa ys.) 2. Press . 2. Select TTY On and press to turn TTY mode on.
Phone Setup Options Shortcut Y our phone of f er s y ou the option of assigning a shor tcut key to a fav orite or often-used function. Pressing the navigation key to the left in standby mode will launch your personally designated shortcut. T o assign your shortcut k e y: 1.
A ut o-Answer Mode Y ou may set your phone to automatically pic k up incoming calls when connected to an optional hands-free car kit. T o set A uto-Answ er mode: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings () . 3. Select Setup () .

Using Y our Phone’ s Lock F eat ur e Locking Y our Phone When your phone is locked, y ou can only receiv e incoming calls or make calls to 911, Sprint PCS Customer Solutions, or special numbers. (See “Using Special Number s” on page 49.) T o lock your phone: 1.
Using Special Numbers Special numbers are important number s that y ou have designated as being “always av ailable. ” Y ou can call and receive calls from special numbers even if your phone is locked. Y ou can save up to ten special numbers in addition to your Phone Book entries (the same number may be in both directories).
Er asing Downloads Y ou can use your phone’ s security menu to erase all items you have downloaded to your phone. T o erase all downloads: 1. Press Menu (left softkey) to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings () . 3. Select Security () . 4. Enter your lock code.
Secur ity F eatur es f or Spr int PCS V ision SM Enabling and Disabling Spr int PCS V ision Services Y ou can disa b le Spr int PCS V ision services without tur ning off your phone; howev er , y ou will not have access to all Sprint PCS Vision services, including W eb and messa ging.

Finding Phone Book Entr ies There are sev eral ways to displa y your Phone Book entries: by name, by speed dial number , b y g roup, and by voice dial tags. V oicemail Options Y our Spr int PCS V ision Phone offers se v eral options for organizing and accessing your v oicemail. Using Expert Mode Using the Expert Mode setting for your personal voicemail box helps you navigate through the v oicemail system more quickl y by shortening the voice prompts you hear at eac h level.
V oicemail-to-V oicemail Message Record and send a voice messag e to other Sprint PCS V oicemail users. 1. From the main v oicemail menu, press to send a message. 2. Follow the v oice prompts to enter the phone number . 3. Follow the v oice prompts to record and send y our voice message.
Continue Recording When leaving a voice messag e, you can choose to continue r ecording even after you’ v e stopped. 䊳 Befor e pressing to indicate that you are satisfied with the message you r ecorded, press to continue recording.
V oicemail Menu Ke y Following the prompts on the v oicemail system, you can use your keypad to navigate through the voicemail menu. The following list outlines your phone’ s v oicemail menu structure.
Using Caller ID Caller ID allows people to identify a caller befor e answering the phone by displaying the number of the incoming call. If you do not want your number displa yed when you make a call, just f ollow these easy steps. T o block your phone number fr om being display ed for a specific outgoing call: 1.
Making a Thr ee-W ay Call With Thr ee-W a y Calling, you can talk to two people at the same time. When using this featur e, the nor mal airtime rates will be c harged for each of the tw o calls. T o make a Thr ee-W ay Call: 1. Enter a number you wish to call and pr ess .
