Equipment Inspe ction and Handling 36 Figure 30 Equipment recommended for handling Liebert DS If possible, transport the Liebert DS with a forkli ft or pallet jacks. If that is not possible, u se a crane with belts or cables, slings an d spreader bars.
Equipment Inspe ction and Handling 37 5.2.1 Removing the Unit from the Skid W ith a Forklif t 1. Align a forklift with eith er the front or rear side of the unit. 2. Insert the tines of the forklift comple tely under the base of the Liebert DS. 3. Remove the lag bolts from each bracke t holding the Liebert DS to the skid.
Equipment Inspe ction and Handling 38 5.2.2 Moving the Unit to the Inst allation Location with Piano Jacks 1. With the Lieb ert DS elevated , place two pi ano ja cks into position—one at either end of the unit. 2. Lower the unit to a height suitable for the pian o jacks and place protective material between the Liebert DS and the pi ano jacks.
Equipment Inspe ction and Handling 39 5.2.4 Removing Liebert DS from Skid Using Rigging 1. Space the slings equidistant on either side of the center of gravity indicator (se e Figure 34 ). Figure 34 Locate center of gravity marker and place slings 2. Place the slings between the bottom rails of the Liebert DS and the top o f the skid.

Disassembling the Liebert DS for Transport 42 6.0 D ISASSEMBLING THE L IEBERT DS FOR T RANSPORT The Liebert DS has a modular frame construction that allows separating the uni t into three sections. Each of these secti ons is more easily maneuver ed through tight spaces or placed in small elevators.
Disassembling the Liebert DS for Transport 43 NOTICE Do not lay the compressor sectio n on its side. It must remain upright. The coil section also must remain upright. 5. Label the three qui ck-connect plugs from the com pressor compartment and disconnect them.
Disassembling the Liebert DS for Transport 44 19. Cut the insulation an d pull it back from the piping. 20. Cut the refrig erant piping with a tubing cutter; if there is no Schrader fitting, let the nitrogen bleed out before cutting al l the way through the pipe.
Disassembling the Liebert DS for Transport 45 6.3 Reassembly—Downflow Unit s 1. Replace the top section. Make sure to clear the Schrade r valves on the coil header. 2. Reconnect the filter and electr ic box assembly to th e blower and coil a ssembly using thread- cutting bolts.
