Chapter 1 Ready, Set Up, Go 9 Y our Mac mini is designed so that you can easily set it up and start using it right away . If you ’ve nev er used a Mac mini or are new to Mac computers , read this section for instructions about getting star ted .

Chapter 1 Ready, Set Up, Go 11 Setting U p Y our Mac mini P osition your Mac mini so that it ’ s right side up or on its side, but not upside down. Use the power adapt er that came with your Mac mini; other power adapters ma y not work.
12 Chapter 1 Ready, Set Up, Go Step 2: T o acce ss the Internet or a network, connec t one end of an Ethernet cable to your Mac mini and the other end t o a cable modem, DSL modem, or network. Y our Mac mini comes with AirP or t Ex treme technology f or wireless networking .
Chapter 1 Ready, Set Up, Go 13 T o use a dial-up connection, you need the external Apple USB Modem, available from the online Apple Stor e at www .apple.com/store or from an A pple Authorized Re seller . Plug the Apple USB Modem in to a USB por t on your Mac mini, and then use a phone cord (not included) to c onnect the modem to a phone jack.

If your keyboard has a USB ( d ) por t, plug your mouse into the USB port on the k eyboard . If it doesn ’t, plug the mouse into a USB ( d ) por t on the back of your Mac mini.

Y our upper arm and for earm should form an appro ximate right angle , with your wrist and hand in roughly a straight line.
