SM 51 Unpacking & Assembly Instr uctions 3 UNPA CKING Follow the steps below when unpacking the c om ponents of the SM51. 1. Cut off the shipping wrapper. 2. Remove the parts box a nd shipping boards. 3. Remove the it ems in the part s box. T hese item s are s hown in Figure 1.

SM51 U npacking & Assembly Instructions 10 7. Mount adjustable pulley brackets. W hen shipped, the adjustable pulley brack ets look lik e the ones s hown in Figure 13. The bolts need to be rem oved and the brack et needs to be positioned so that the top of the brack et is in the top hole as shown by the arrow in Figure 13.

SM51 U npacking & Assembly Instructions 12 INSTA LLING THE CABLES The SM51 us es five cables . Ther e are three dif ferent types of cable us ed on the SM51. They are: 1. Adjustable c ross over cables (ball end cables) (2). 2. Low row cable (the long cables) (1).
SM 51 Unpacking & Assembly Instr uctions 13 ADJUSTABLE CROSSOVER CABLE RO UTI NG Once you’ve removed the pulleys as desc ribed previously, route the adjustable c rosso ver cable on the 4-stac k cell as shown in Figure 17. T he cr ossover cable is routed at the f actor y on the 1 stack cube (s hown at right in Figure 17).
SM51 U npacking & Assembly Instructions 14 Figure 18. Adjustable crossover cab le end detail. Using a 7/8” wrench, tighten the j am nut onto the adjustable pulley threads as shown in Figure 18. Place a rubber c ap on the top of the cable as shown in Figure 18 (right) .
SM 51 Unpacking & Assembly Instr uctions 15 Bolt the cable to the weight stack s as s hown in Figure 20. Thr ead the 7/8” nut up on the cable bolt as shown at lef t. Screw the bolt down into the weight stack as shown at right. Tighten the bolt with a 7/8” com bination wrench.
