Fundamentals 1 Fundamentals The Magellan T riton is a hand-held GPS receiver that has been designed for the outdoo rsman. Simple to use, yet powerful enough to get you through the toughest terrain or returning to that same fishing hotspot, year after year .
Fundamentals 2 A Backlight / Flashlight button. Press to step though 3 level s of backlight intensity or off. Press and hold for 2-3 seconds to turn the fl ashlight on or off. B Hold Switch. Slide up to place the Magel lan T riton in hold mode. During hold mode, the keys will not function , preventing accidental use.
Navigation Screens 3 Navigation Screens The Map Screen will be the most commonly viewed screen while using th e Magellan T riton. It has been simplified to provide the best possible outdoo r experience while providing a ccess to all of the information needed at the touch of a finger .
Navigation Screens 4 Buttons While viewing the m ap screen the ke ys on the Magellan T riton provide add itional input and fea ture access. Menu Accesses the Main Menu Page/Goto Pages through the Navi gation screens. (Pre ss and hold to set a GO TO route to a location indicated by the panning cursor .
Navigation Screens 5 due to the data not being computed as you are n o t moving or the data is on ly displayed when a route or a goto are active.) Additional Navigation Screens There are four additional navigation screens and a Satellite Status screen th at can be viewed while using the Magellan T riton.
Navigation Screens 6 A screen will be displayed with all of the options available. (Note that some fields are displayed with dashes. This can be due to th e data not being comput ed as you are not moving or the data is only displayed when a route or a goto are active.
Navigation Screens 7 Satellite Status This screen graphically disp lays the satellites and their signal strength that is being used to compute your location. Thi s is a handy screen to view when you are getting weak to poor signal rec eption. There are also two navigational screens displayed at the bottom of the display .
Using the Keypad 9 Using the Keypad The Magellan T r iton displays a keypad on the screen whenever data need s to be entered. Understanding the various comp onents of the ke ypad will make ente ring data easier . The Keypad The keypad is use d to enter names, notes, latitude, longitude or data that the user needs to enter .
Create Menu 10 Cr eate Menu The Create Menu is used to access the functions ne eded to create waypoints, trails, geocaches and routes. Accessing the Create Menu 1. From the Map screen, press the MENU button. 2. T ap on ‘Create’. Wa ypoints Creating a W aypoint 1.
Create Menu 11 Add Media: (T op center of display). T ap the add media icon to add pictures for this waypoint. 5. T ap the green chec k button to accept the information and save the waypoint. T rail Creating a T rail from Current T rack History 1. Access the Main Menu and tap “Create”.
Create Menu 12 4. The Geocache screen p rovides th e fields needed to identify the waypoint and its location. The fields can be modified to customize the waypoint. 5. Icon: T ap the icon to display all possi ble icons that c an be used to represent the waypoint.
Create Menu 13 5. T ap “Add Point” to repeat step 3 to continue adding waypoints to the route. 6. T ap “Done” when the route is comple te. 7. T ap “Save Route”. 8. The Save Route Screen is displayed. T ap on the Route name (default “Route XXX”) to assign a nam e to the route.
Go To Menu 14 Go T o Menu The Go T o Menu is used to acce ss the function s used to activate Go T o’ s and saved routes. Accessing the Go T o Menu 1. From the Map screen, press the MENU button. 2. T ap on ‘GO TO’ and the Go T o Menu will be displayed.

Go To Menu 16 Places Creating a Go T o to a Place 1. Access the Main Menu and tap “GO TO”. 2. T ap “Places” from the Go T o Menu. 3. Select the map to be used. (Basem aps contain limited places to select from. Detail ed maps include a wide variety of points of interest to be chosen.
Go To Menu 17 Deleting a T rail 1. Access the Main Menu and tap “GO TO”. 2. T ap “T rail”. 3. Select a trail from the list of saved trails. 4. T ap , 5. Confirm deleting the waypoint by tapping . Duplicating a T rail 1. Access the Main Menu and tap “GO TO”.
Go To Menu 18 Elevation: T ap the Elevation field to displa y the keyboard. Enter the elevation and tap the green button. Difficulty: Assign a difficulty rating to this cache. T errain: Indicate the type of te rrain the cache is located in. GCT ype: Geocache type.

View Menu 22 User Profiles Y ou can set user profiles for various opera tions of the Magellan T riton that c an be loaded easily . Activating User Profiles 1. Access the Main Menu and tap “View”. 2. T ap ‘Profiles’. 3. Select Hiking, Marine, or Geocaching.
