4 USE PROPER EXTENSION CORD . Make sure y our extension cord is in good condition. When using an e xtension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carr y the current y our product will draw . An undersized cord will cause a drop in line v oltage resulting in loss of power and o verheating.

6 INST ALLA TION Movement and transport of planer CA UTION: • W atch your step when moving the tool. F old the sub-tables. Grasp the carrying handles when mov- ing the tool. When transpor ting it b y vehicle, secure with a rope or other substantial means to pre vent tipping or mov ement.
7 Dimensional adjustment Lower the main fr ame by turning the crank handle counter- clockwise until the indicator plate points to the scale gr adua- tion indicating the desired finished dimension. One full turn of the crank handle mov es the main frame 2 mm (3/32 ” ) up or down.
8 Depth adjusting gauge Use the depth adjusting gauge when you need to predeter- mine the depth of cut more accurately . T o do so , proceed as fo ll ow s. 1. First, plane the workpiece at the predeter mined depth of cut. Measure the thickness of the planed piece to kno w how much more stoc k you need to remov e.
9 ASSEMBL Y CA UTION: • Alwa ys be sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged befo re carr ying out any work on the tool. Replacing planer blades CA UTION: • Handle the blades v er y carefully when remo ving or installing the blades to pre vent cuts or injury from the blades and to pre vent damage to the b lades.
10 Place the two magnetic holders on the set plate and push them in the direction of the arrow until the cla w contact the blade . Remove the six b lade installation bolts using the sock et wrench. Grip the magnetic holders and raise them straight up to remov e the set plate and the blade from the drum.
11 Grip the magnetic holder and slip the heel of the set plate into the groov e in the drum. Install the blade installation bolts. After tightening all the blade installation bolts lightly and e venly from the center to the outside, tighten them com- pletely f ollowing the same sequence.
12 Loosen the thumb screws which secure the chip co ver . Attach the hood to the planer and secure the chip cov er and the hood together by tightening the thumb scre ws. Planer stand (optional accessory) Place the sta ys on a lev el location and assemble the legs inside.
13 The planer stand should be bolted with the f our bolts to the floor using the bolt holes provided in the legs . OPERA TION CA UTION: • T wo or more pieces of narrow but similar thic kness stock can be passed through the planer side by side .
14 • Stop the tool when the workpiece has stalled. Allowing the tool to run with a stalled workpiece causes rapid wearing of the feed rollers . MAINTENANCE CA UTION: • Alwa ys be sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged bef ore attempting to perform inspection or maintenance.
15 Replacing carbon brushes Remov e and check the carbon brushes regularly . Replace when they we ar down to the limit mark. Keep the carbon brushes clean and free to slip in the holders. Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the same time. Use only iden- tical carbon brushes.
