INTRODUCTIONS The USB 10/100M Fast Ethernet Adapter provid es outside-th e-box plug- and-play lo cal area network connections for USB-enabled PCs, noteb ooks and lap tops. This ad apter uses a B type USB po rt to co nnect with the USB ho st, and an RJ-45 port to connect with a 10/100 Fast Ethernet L AN link.
Parts Names and Functions USB Connection Cable: connects the USB host port t o the USB 10/10 0M Fast Et hernet Adapter. connects t o the U SB host port 1 3 2 4 6 5 USB-B Port : USB device port. USB Fast Ethernet Adapter Rx/Tx LED indicator: blinks green when the Fast Ethernet Ad apter is transmitting/receiving data.
HARDWARE INSTALLATION Precaution Before the insta llation, make su re the USB port exists in your computer and is enabled. To check this, go to My Computer Con trol Panel System . Ope n the Device Manager tab. If the Universa l Seria l Bus contro ller device is found, it means you r USB port is installed and enabled.
2. Connect ano ther end of the USB connection cable to the device port ( USB B ) of your USB 10/100M Fast Ethernet Adapter until it clicks. 3. Connect the UTP cable t o the Fast Ethe rnet Adapter.
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION Installation for Windows 98 1. Once the de vice is properly connecte d to your computer, Windows 98 will automatically d etect the new hardware device. Perfo rm t he following proced ures for installi ng the device driver. 2. Insert t he device dri ver disk i nto your floppy dri v e.
3. The installation program will proceed automatically. Fo llow the on-screen instruction to finish. 4. When W indows pro mpts you to restar t your c omput er, clic k No to mak e s o me changes to your network sett ings.
5. Go to Start Settings Co ntrol Pa nel . Double-clic k Network . 6. When the Net work di alog bo x appea rs, select USB 10/100M Fast Ethernet and click Add . Set the approp riate pr otocol s and client fo r you needs. When com plete d, click OK .

7. Go to Start Settings Contro l Panel Network and Dial-u p Connections . Double-clic k Local Area Connections . 8. When the Net work dial og bo x appears , select USB 10/ 100 Ne twork Ad apter and click Install . Set the a ppropriate protoc ols and client for you n eeds.
9. Remember to restart your com puter to activate the new device. Setup Diagnostics To verify if the de vice exists in your com puter and is e nabled, go to Start Setting s Control Panel Syst em Hardware.
