3 ENGLISH Notes about the discs * Handle the discs carefully so as not to scratch their surfaces. * Keep the surfaces of the discs clean at all times. When cleaning the surfaces of discs, always be sure to use the special cleaner and wipe the surfaces in the directions shown in the figure below .

FEA TURES • CS4392 high-performance D/A con ver ter made b y Cirrus Logic used The CS4392 D/A converter whose CD playback circuitry has the same design as the CS4396 D/A converter , which was also made by Cirrus Logic and which has proved to be a valuable asset for the Marantz CD player , has been adopted.
7 ENGLISH This CD player is connected to an amplifier , CD r ecorder and other components for use. T o ensure that the components are connected pr operly , refer to the instruction manuals that come with the components to be connected. Before connecting the components, be absolutely sur e to tur n off their power .
8 ENGLISH Fr ont panel 5. NAMES AND FUNCTIONS z PO WER ON/ST ANDBY switc h and Standby indicator This is used to turn the player ’ s power ON and ST ANDBY . When it is pressed, the display lights and the power is turned on; when it is pressed again, the power is turned off and ST ANDBY indicator lights.
9 ENGLISH a Main display This displays the time information and text infor mation of the disc played, the setting menus, etc. b TEXT indicator This lights when a disc supporting CD-TEXT has been loaded. c 8 8 8 8 8 (pause) indicator This lights when play is temporarily suspended.
10 ENGLISH Remote contr ol unit NAMES AND FUNCTIONS q DISPLA Y button This is used to turn off the display (DISPLA Y OFF mode). w Numeric buttons (0 to 9) These are used to specify the numbers of the tracks to be played. e PROGRAM b utton This is pressed to initiate pr ogram play .

12 ENGLISH Pla ying CDs 1. T urn on the power of the amplifier to which the player is connected, and use the input selector on the amplifier to select “ CD ” (the player ’ s input source which has been connected). 2. Press the POWER button on the player to turn on the power .
13 ENGLISH Pla ying a specific track • Specifying the number of a trac k to be play ed (direct search) Select the number of the track to be played directly by pr essing the numeric buttons (0 to 9) on the remote contr ol unit.
14 ENGLISH Pla ying a specific par t of a specific trac k • Sear ching a specific par t of a trac k (search) While listening to a track being played, it is possible to sear ch a specific part of that track by a forward or backward sear ch.
15 ENGLISH Repeat pla y (playing the same trac ks repeatedly) • Playing all trac ks repeatedly (all-track repeat) This function repeatedly plays all the tracks. Repeat play is possible even during random play or program play . Press the REPEA T button on the remote control unit.
16 ENGLISH Random pla y (playing trac ks in a random sequence) This function rearranges the tracks into a random sequence and it then plays all the tracks in this random sequence. If it is used together with repeat play , the same tracks can be repeatedly played but in a dif ferent sequence every time.
17 ENGLISH Pr ogram play (pla ying tracks in the preferred sequence) The order in which the CD tracks ar e played can be rearranged into the sequence desired.
18 ENGLISH • Program pla y in the text displa y mode In the case of a CD-TEXT disc, tracks can be selected by title for program play . If the main display is set to the time display mode, press the TEXT button on the remote contr ol unit to establish the text display mode.
19 ENGLISH Delete pr ogram play (pla y with undesired trac ks skipped) This function makes it possible to skip those tracks that you do not want to hear during CD play .
20 ENGLISH • Delete pr ogram play in the te xt display mode In the case of a CD-TEXT disc, the tracks that are not desir ed can be selected by title for delete program play . If the main display is set to the time display mode, press the TEXT button on the remote contr ol unit to establish the text display mode.
21 ENGLISH • Chec king the program or delete pr ogram contents During programming operation or pr ogram play , press the SCROLL/RECALL button on the remote contr ol unit. With program play , the pr ogrammed tracks are displayed one after the other in sequence on the main display .
22 ENGLISH P eak searc h (searc hing for the loudest passage) If the cassette deck recor ding level is adjusted in relation to the peak level on the disc, it is possible to avoid distortion and noise in recor ding. This facility allows the peak over the entire disc or in the pr ogrammed to be detected tracks before proceeding to editing.
23 ENGLISH 3. After A side program complete, player turns to the pause state at the beginning of B side program. 4. When A side of the tape ends up, cassette deck inverts its recor ding direction and set to rec pause state automatically . 5. Press 3 or 8 buttons of the player manually to start B side recor ding.
24 ENGLISH - Synchro recor ding with Marantz one-way cassette dec k, or Marantz auto rever se cassette deck set to one side ( ) mode . 1. After setting up Edit program, setup the cassette deck to rec pause state. 2. Press 3 or 8 buttons of the player to start A side pr ogram.
25 ENGLISH Pitch contr ol (changing the pla y speed) The play speed (pitch) can be changed across a ± 12 step. ∗ Digital signals are not output during pitch contr ol. • Increasing the pla y speed Press the PITCH+ button on the r emote control unit.
26 ENGLISH CD-TEXT “ CD-TEXT ” refers to a new kind of music disc which dif fers from a conventional music disc in that album titles, track titles and other text information are recor ded on it. CDs with the following logos support this function. The text information is recorded on those parts which were not used by conventional music CDs.
