MODEL: MC4285 BEFORE OPERATING THIS PRODUCT, PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY. CALLER ID TELEPHONE/DUAL ALARM CLOCK WITH AM/FM RADIO OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS MC4285.
1 IMPORT ANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, including the following: 1. Read and understand all instructions.
2 IMPORT ANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) 1. If your local telephone exchange only accepts Pulse dialing, you may have to switch the Tone/Pulse switch to Tone to access certain services that require Tone signalling (such as home banking).
3 IMPORT ANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED) CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire or injury to persons, read and follow these instructions: 1. Use only the following type and size battery: 9V Battery. 2. Do not dispose of the battery(ies) in a fire. The cell may explode.

AC Power Adapter To operate the unit using AC power, connect the AC adapter to the jack labelled “DC IN” on the rear of the unit and to a wall outlet having 120V, 60Hz only. CAUTION: Use only the AC adapter provided with the unit. Using another AC adapter may damage the unit.
6 TELEPHONE OPERA TION SETTING THE MENU OPTIONS Press the SET button ❶ once; “SET LANGUAGE” will appear in the display. Press the REVIEW ( ▼ ) ❷ or ( ▲ ) ❸ button to select the desired language 3 1 2 1 Press the SET button ❶ again; “CONTRAST” will appear in the display.
7 TELEPHONE OPERA TION (CONTINUED) SETTING THE MENU OPTIONS (CONTINUED) Press the SET button ❶ again. Press the REVIEW ( ▼ ) ❷ or ( ▲ ) ❸ button to set the current month. 3 1 2 5 Press the SET button ❶ again. Press the REVIEW ( ▼ ) ❷ or ( ▲ ) ❸ button to set the current day.
8 TELEPHONE OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. Press the key buttons (0-9) for the specified number you wish to call. 1 MAKING CALLS Wait for the phone to ring twice so the caller ID registers the call. Lift the handset and speak into the mouthpiece.
9 TELEPHONE OPERA TION (CONTINUED) REDIAL BUTTON Press the REDIAL button to automatically redial the last number dialed. NOTE: Please note that only the last number you called on this telephone can be stored in the Redial memory. 1 Press the FLASH button to hang up the phone without having to return it to the base.
10 TELEPHONE OPERA TION (CONTINUED) TONE BUTTON If Tone/Pulse switch is set to Pulse, simply press the */TONE button on the handset to temporarily set the phone for TONE. This is useful when accessing automated telephone prompts that require the Tone signal.
11 TELEPHONE OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Make sure that the Caller ID service is turned on by your phone company. When you receive a call, the display will show the name, number, time and date of the caller between the first and second ring.
12 DO NOT pick up the handset. Select the number using the REVIEW ( ▼ ) ❶ or ( ▲ ) ❷ button , then press the DIAL button ❸ ; “PICKUP OR ADJ” will appear in the display. If the number shown at the bottom is exactly how it should be dialed, simply pick up the phone and the number will be dialed.
13 TELEPHONE OPERA TION (CONTINUED) MANUALLY STORING NUMBERS INTO MEMORY This telephone is equipped with 13 memories for programming your most frequently dialed telephone numbers. Press the STORE button ❶ , then enter the telephone number to be stored using the key buttons (0–9) ❷ (no tone will be heard, but the number will be in memory).
14 RADIO OPERA TION ALARM OPERA TION Press the RADIO ON/OFF button ❶ to turn the unit on. Slide the BAND switch ❷ to the desired band (AM or FM). 2 1 1 Tune a station by turning the TUNING control ❶ . Adjust the VOLUME control ❷ as desired. 1 2 2 TO PLAY THE RADIO Antennas FM: Extend the FM antenna wire for better FM reception.
15 ALARM OPERA TION (CONTINUED) Set the alarm 1 or 2 time as previously instructed. Press the desired ALARM 1 ❶ or ALARM 2 ❷ button repeatedly until “ALARM 1 MUSIC” or “ALARM 2 MUSIC” appears in the display to have the unit wake up to the radio; the Music Note indicator will appear in the display.
16 ALARM OPERA TION (CONTINUED) The alarm can be temporarily turned off manually by pressing the SNOOZE button; the alarm will turn back on automatically 7 minutes later. It can be repeated endlessly. 1 SNOOZE NOTE: In Dual Alarm mode, if both alarms are set, the Snooze feature will only operate up to the next alarm.
17 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE POSSIBLE SOLUTION No dial tone. The line cord is not Plug in the line cord. plugged in. Phone does not work. AC cord not plugged in. Plug AC cord in. Battery is weak/dead. Replace battery. Phone does not ring.
