Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide 1 About V oice Mail Inter-T el voice mail is an inte grated component of the Inte r-T el Axxess/5000 phone system . This user guide p rovides feat ure instructions for Basic V o ice Mail (BVM) and Enterprise Messaging (EM) voice mail system features.
2 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide Mailbox Access This section explains how to access and set up your voice mail account. If necessary , contact your voice mail administrator for th e voice mail extensio n number and password. T o acce ss voice mail: 1.
Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide 3 Recording Personal Greetings Y ou may want to include the following information when recording your pe rsonal greeting: • Whether you are in the office and where you can be reached. • When you will be returning calls.
4 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide Recording Y our Directory Name Y our directory name is used to identify you in the voice mail directory and to verify your mailbox number when messages are address ed to you. Y ou can change your dire ctory name at any time.
Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide 5 Message Features The following are mailbox me ssage features. Listening to Messages T o listen to m essages: 1. Access your mailbox as described on pag e 2 . If E-Mail Reade r is enabled for your mailbox, press 1 or say “V oice Mail.
6 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide Recovering Deleted V oice Messages Y ou can recover deleted voice messages withi n a specific time frame before they are erased from the system. The time frame can be up to 24 hour s and is programmed by your voice mail administrator .
Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide 7 Recording and Sending V oice Messages Y ou can record and send voice messag es to other mailbox e xtensions in your voice mail system. T o reco rd and send v oice messages: 1. Access your mailbox as described on pag e 2 .
8 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide Using Remote Messaging Y ou can use Remote Messaging to call you when you r mailbox receives new vo ice messages 2 .

10 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide Mailbox Preferences Y ou can us e the following feat ures to customize voice mail option s. Changing Y our Mailbox Password Y ou can change your mai lbox password at any time. The new password can be up to 12 digits long and must be numeric.

12 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide Changing the Message Envelope When you listen to voice messages (or e-mail or fax messages if E-Mail Reader is enabled), an “en velope” is played for each message. By defaul t, the envelope contains the following info rmation: • Tim e a nd D at e : The time and date the message was received .
Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide 13 Changing the Message Search Order Y ou can change the ord er in which you retrieve you r new and saved me ssages based on the date and time they are received.
14 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide V oice Mail Directory Subscribers or non-subscribers can use dialp ad buttons or ASR (if enabled, see page 1) to search for directory names. ASR may not b e able to locate na mes that are pronounce d differently than they are spelled.
Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide 15 T o sear ch the Directory: 1. Dial the voice mail number . 2. Press # or say “Directory .” 3. Press the appropriate dialpad buttons to sp ell the na me or say the last n ame of the person (see the table on page 14 ).
16 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide E-Mail Reader Y ou can use E-Mail Reader to listen to e-mail messages a nd fax message envel opes from your mailbox 5 .

The system announces that it was unable to retrieve your e-mail and fax me ssages, and provides the followin g options: • Press # or say “Continue” to ac cess yo ur mailbox without access to your e-mail messages.
18 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide T o use E-Mail Reader to access your e-mail acco unt: 1. Access your mailbox as described on pag e 2 . 2. Press 3 or say “E-Mail.” Then select one of the foll owing: • Press 1 or say “New” to listen to new messages.
Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide 19 Using Main Menu E -Mail Reader Count After you set up y our E-Mail Reader accoun t, the system announces the number of voice, e-mail, and fax messages you have each time you access your ma ilbox before you can listen to your messages.
20 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide Listening to Fax Message Notifications Using E-Mail Reader , you can listen to fax message notifications. When you access a fax message, E-Mail Reader announce s the fax message according to the envelope option (see pag e 12 ).

22 Inter-T el ® V oice Mail User Guide I cannot use ASR to enter my E-Mail Reader password. T o prevent others from overhear ing your password, you must use the dialpad buttons to enter your password. I cannot set the number of rings before a call is sent to voice mail.
