Throttle Control Lev er The throt tle contro l lever is locate d on the right side o f the trac tor’s dash panel . This lever controls the sp eed of th e engine and whe n pushed all th e way for ward, the choke contro l also. When s et in a given posi tion, the throt tle will m aintain a unifor m engine sp eed .
W ARN ING! N ever leave a running machine unat tended. Al ways disengage P TO , move spe ed control lever into neut ral positio n, set par king br ake, stop eng ine and remove key to prevent unintende d star ting.
Operation 5 15 Operation 5 15 Safet y Int erlock Switches This trac tor is equip ped w ith a safet y interlo ck sys tem for the protec tion of th e operator. If the interlo ck system sh ould ever malfun ctio n, do not op erate the trac tor. C ontac t an autho rized MTD ser v ice dealer.

Push in on the oil drai n valve and rotate counter-clo ck wise 6. to drain the oil . Refer ba ck to Figure 6 - 2 . Af ter the oil has f inished dr aining, rotate th e valve 7 . clock wise to clos e. Re -c ap the end of the o il drain valve to keep deb ris from enterin g the drain p or t.

Measure the dis tance from th e outsid e of the lef t bla de 2 . tip to the ground a nd the dista nce from the ou tside of the right blad e tip to the ground. B oth measureme nts taken should b e equal. I f they’re not, pro ceed to the ne x t step. Loosen , but do NOT rem ove, the hex cap screw o n the lef t 3.
