4 • When cleaning, repairing, or inspecti ng, make certain the auger, impell er and all moving parts have stopped. Disconnect spark plug wire and keep away from plug to prevent accidental starting. • Do not run engine indoors, except when starting engine and transporting snow th r ower in or out of building.
5 SECTION 2: LOOSE PARTS The snow thro wer is shippe d with foll owing loos e parts in the ca rton. Plea se remov e all loose p arts from t he carton before dis carding it. S ee Figure 1 to i dentify the pa rts not ing that these p arts may b e referred to ag ain in the following s ections of thi s manua l.
6 NOTE: If the conn ector i s not prop erly ass embled , the shift rod wi ll pivot a nd you wi ll not be ab le to cha nge speed s or chang e direc tions. • If not al ready att ached, sl ip the ca bles that r un from the handle pa nel to the chute i nto the ca ble guide loca ted on top of the e ngine.
7 Traction Control and Shift Lever Adjustment To check the adjus tment of the tracti on control and sh ift leve r, procee d as foll ows: • Move the s hift lev er into si xth (6) po sitio n.
8 Chute Dir ectional Control The chute dir ectional co ntrol is l ocated on lef t side of the snow thrower. To chang e the direct ion in whi ch snow is thrown, turn chute di rectio nal cont rol as fol lows: • Cran k clockwis e to dis charge to th e left.
9 • Move thr ottle control u p to FAST pos ition. Inse rt ignit ion key int o slot. See F igure 8. Be c ertain it snaps int o place . Do not turn th e key. • Rotate c hoke knob t o FULL c hoke posi tion (col d engin e start). If eng ine is wa rm, pla ce choke i n OFF positio n instead of FULL .

SECTION 6: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: N EVER attempt to clean chute or make any adjus tments while engine is running.
11 Shift Ro d Adju stment To adjust the s hift rod, pr oceed as follo ws. • Remov e the hai rpin clip and s lide th e conne ctor up to separa te the upper sh ift rod from the lower shift rod. See F igure 11. Fig ure 1 1 • Pla ce shif t lever in six th (6) pos ition .
12 Wheels • Oil or spr ay lubr icant into pl astic whe el bearin gs inside the w heel hub s at least onc e a season. Remove whee ls, clean a nd coat axle s with a mu lti- pur pos e auto mot ive gr ease . See Fi gure 13. 13 • Reass emble new skid shoes with th e six car riage bolts, bel l washe rs (cupped s ide goes ag ainst s kid shoe s) and hex nut s. Ma ke cer tain the sk id sh oes are adjusted to b e leve l. To remove shave pl ate, remov e the carriage bol ts, bellevi lle was hers and he x nuts wh ich attach i t to the snow throwe r hous ing.
14 • Back ou t the stop bolt un til the suppo rt bracket rests on th e auger p ulley. Se e Figure 2 0. • Slip bel t between fri ction wheel a nd friction w heel disc. Se e Figure 20. Rem ove and repl ace belt. • Reasse mble follow ing the in structions in reverse order.
