5 Intr oduction Y our new digital projector pr ovides thr ee computer and three v ideo inputs and ha s XGA 102 4x768 resol ution. Op tional us er-chang eable sho rt and lo ng thr ow lenses make this a flexible pr oduct suitable for many dif ferent uses.
6 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector pro vides three computer and three v ideo connectors: • one M1-D (HD, DV I, an d comput e r) • two VESA (HD, HD component, and computer) •o n e c o m p o n e n.
7 Connecting a computer Required compute r connections Connect one end of the computer cable to t he Compu ter 2 connecto r on the proj ector . Connect the other end to th e video port on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to disconnect the monitor cable fr om the computer ’s video port .
8 If you pr efer connecting your computer t o the projector wi th an optional M1-D cable, connect on e end of that cable to the M1 port on your computer , and con nect the ot her end to the Computer 1 connector on the projector .
9 Displa ying a computer image Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch to positi on “1” on the b ack of the projector , then press the Po w e r button on the top of t he projector or t he remote. The LED fla shes green and the fans sta rt to run.
10 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer running W indows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes the pr ojector as “new h ardware” and the Add Ne w Ha rd wa re W i za rd ap pe ar s.

12 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the height of the pr ojector , if necessary , b y pressing the release but- ton to extend the elevator foot. Rotate th e leveling foot (locate d at the bot tom back ri ght corner ), if neces- sary . Position the projector the desir ed distance fr om the scree n at a 90 degree angle to the screen.
13 Connecting a video de vice Standard v ideo conn ections Plug the audio/ video (A/V) cable’s yellow connector into the video-out connector on the video dev ice. Plug the o ther yellow c onnector into the yel- low Video 2 connect or on the pr ojector .
14 Displa ying a vi deo imag e Remove the lens cap. Press t he power switch to position “1” on the back of t he projector , then press the Po w e r button on the top of the pr ojector . The LED flash es green and the fans start to r un. When the la mp comes on, the star tup screen is displayed a nd the LED is steady gr een.
15 Adjust the zoom or focus rin gs by rotating them until the desir ed image size and fo cus are p roduced. If the image is not squar e, adjust the v ertical keystone using the buttons on the keypad. Press the upper Key s t o n e button to reduce th e upper part of the imag e, and pr ess the lower Ke y s t o n e button to reduce the lower part.
16 Shutting do wn the pr ojector The projector automatica lly blanks the screen after n o active source is detected for 3 0 minutes. This blank screen helps preserve the life of the pro- jector . The imag e returns wh en an active sour ce is detected or a remote or keypad b utton is pr essed.

24 Using the k eypad buttons Most bu ttons ar e described in detail in other sections, bu t here is an over- view of the ir function s: pow e r –turns the projector on (page 9) a nd off (page 14). menu –op ens the o n-scre en menus (page 29) . select –confirms choic es made in the men us (page 29).
25 Using the remote contr o l The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA batt eries. They ar e easily install ed by slidi ng the cov er off the remote’s back, aligni ng the + an d - ends of the batteries , sliding them into place, and then repl acing the cover .
26 Using the audio T o play sound f r om the projector , connec t your source to the Audio In con- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust the volume, us e the buttons on the k eypad or remote. T o adjust the bass, t reble, balan c e, or loudness, use the Audio menu (see page 33).
27 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected pr operly and the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can optimize t he image using the onscr een menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using the menus, see page 29 . • Adjus t the Key stone, Contra st, or Br ightne ss in the Picture menu .
28 Optimizi ng video ima ges After the video devic e is connecte d properly an d the image is on the scr een, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on using the menus, s ee page 29. • Adju st the Keysto ne, Contrast , Brightness, C olor , or T int in the Pictur e menu.
29 Using the menus T o open the menus, press the menu b utton o n the key pad or r emote . (The menus a utomatically close a fter 60 second s if no button s are pre ssed.) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desired submenu, then pr ess the Select button .
30 Picture menu T o adjust th e following six settings, hi ghlight the setting, pr ess Selec t , use the up an d down arro ws to adjust the values, then pr ess select t o confirm the c hanges. Ve r t i c a l K e y s t o n e : adjusts the image verticall y and makes a squar er image .
31 Presets : The pr ovided Pr esets optimize the pr ojector for displaying com- puter pr esentation s, photographs, fil m images, an d video images. (Film input is material or iginally captur ed on a film camera , like a mov ie; video input is material or iginally captur ed on a video cam era, like a T V show or sporting event.
32 Advanced settings Sharpness : (v ideo sources only) cha nges the clarity of t he edges of a vide o image. Select a sha rpness settin g. Color S pace : This option appl ies to compute r and component vide o sour ces. It allows you to select a color sp ace that h as been s pecifically tuned for the video in put.
33 Settings menu Audio : allow s adjustmen ts to the vo lume, bass, treble and balance. Als o allows you t o turn on and of f Loudness (which b oosts the higher an d lower frequen cies), the Internal speakers, and pr ojector startup Chime.
34 Screen Sav e : automatically blanks the scr een after no signals are detected for five mi nutes. The ima ge return s when an activ e source i s detected or a rem ote or keypad button is pr essed. Scr een Save is d isabled when Power Save i s enabl ed.
35 Effect K ey : allow s you to assign a differ ent functio n to the Effect button on the re mote to quickly and ea sily use the effect. O nly one ef fect can be enabled at a time. H ighlight an ef fect and pr ess Selec t to choose a dif ferent one. Blank : shows an e m pty screen.
36 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ethernet connector that support s net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is will allow for the control and management of th e projector over a corporate networ k. The following fields are accessible when DHCP is not check ed and available for manual entry of data.
37 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-abra sive camera lens cleaner to a soft, dr y cloth. A void using an excessive amo u n t of cleaner , an d don’t apply the cleaner directly to the lens. A brasive clea ners, solvents or other har sh chemic als migh t scratch the lens.
38 Replacing the pr ojection la mp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of ho urs the lamp has been in use. Fifty h ours before the specified end of t he lamp’s life, the message “ Replace lamp” briefly appea rs on the scr een at each startup and in the Interac tive Display .
39 W ARNINGS : • T o avoid burns , allow the pr ojector to cool for at least 60 min u tes before you r epla ce the lamp . • Do not drop the la mp module. The g lass may sha tter and cause injury . • Do not touch the glass lamp screen. Fingerprin ts ca n obscur e projection sharpnes s.
