3 1. OVERVIEW NVS 14 (th e Unit) is a n optoel ectronic mon ocular, inte nded for observation of object s a n d ori entation at ni g ht or u nde r dark conditions. The Unit is equipped with a generation 2 + or 3 image intensifier tube, which amplifies low ligh t, such as moonlight , starlight or man-m ade light.

8 5. IMAGE INTENSIFIER TUBE SPECIFICATIONS The Unit utilizes a small size inverting image intensifier with direct image transfer. The tube co ntains a m icrochannel pl ate, multi-alkaline metal S-25 (NC tube type) or GaAs (N3 tube type) photocathode, yellow-green screen and built-in electron ic high voltage DC to DC converter.

12 6. OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS 6.1 Installing battery Unit is supplied with battery not installed. Prior to installing the battery, make sure the switch (1) is in the OFF position and the len s cap is on. The unit can operate on either AA Alkaline or CR-123 Lithium battery.

14 the eyepiece screen focusing the eyepiece lens (4, Fig. 1) and then the objective lens (3, Fig. 1). 6.5 Focusing To obtain sharp image on other distance adjust th e lens focus (3, Fig. 1) leaving eyepiece setting in tact. You should be able to obtain a sharp image for dista nces from 2-10m to infinity.

16 To set comfortable eye-relief (the distance between your ey e and the eyepiece), loosen tightening sc rew (8, Fig. 1) on the hea d gear and move the unit, then tigh ten the locking screw. To use the Unit with PASGT head and helm et mount unscrew the groove d pad (2, Fi g.
17 6.10 Install ation of add -on lenses. Always make sure that the mono cular is switched off when you put on or pull off the add-on lens . Note: The following procedure is id entical for 3x or 5x lenses (or any other add-o n lenses). Turn off the mon ocular.

21 The ‘Quick Release’ model (Fig 8) utilizes a latch with a spring and patented accu-torque screw. You can attach and detach your monocular wit hin a few sec onds. The acc u-torque screw fixes the mount with predefined t orque thus protecting t he thread fro m accidental over tightening damage.
22 6.15 Binocular con figuration Two Units can be combined to form a two-eye construction with the help of an optional bridge. Lens ca n be att ached to form a binocular optical system. To form a do uble-unit sy stem use the dove tail platform (10, Fig.
23 7. TROUBLESHOOTING 7.1 The device does not switc h ON Check if the battery is properly installed. Check the battery charge. Replace battery i f necessary. 7.2 Image is unclear Check if the lenses are foggy or dusty. Clean if necessary. If the image is still not focuse d – adjust eyepieces; see 6.
24 8. WARRANTY NEWCON warrants this product agai nst defects in material and workmanshi p for one year from the date of the ori ginal purchase, but no m ore than 18 m onths from the date of manufacturi ng. Longer warranty is available, subject to the terms of the specific sales contract.
