3 INTRODUCTION Never in the history of po wer protection has there been a product line that has revolutionized the industry the w a y that Niles' iPOWER ™ has. iPO WER ™ Intelligent P ower Management Systems represent a breakthrough in three main areas: po wer protection, noise filtration, and power management .
KEY TECHNOLOGIES i3 ™ Three - Stage Circuit T opology — Power Protection for the Real W orld iPOWER's i3 ™ (instantaneous, impenetrable, and virtually indestructible) cir cuit topology represents a breakthrough in power protection tec hnology .
5 iDefinition ™ Constant Impedance T echnology Unfortunately , many surge suppression devices protect coax connections with little regard to the impact on performance. In these circuits, the signal comes in as a specific frequenc y but lea v es as something entirely different.
Dual Lead Contact. A dual lead contact makes a more positiv e connection and is muc h more durable, ensuring a lifetime of service. T eflon ® Dielectric. A T eflon ® dielectric greatly reduces signal loss and preserves the color and clarity of the source signal.
When illuminated, the Ground OK LED on the A C- 8 C X indicates that the house wiring is proper- ly grounded. If the LED does not illuminate, there is a line problem. W ithout a proper ground, y our A C- 8 C X will not be able to provide protection from electrical surges and spikes.
Power Button turns on Switched outlets. The AC-8CX features four pairs of premium quality , wall transformer -spaced outlets. T wo pairs are Always On , two pairs ar e Switched on by the power button. UL 1 449 2nd Edition Listed Rugged steel chassis with molded rubber endcaps can be wall or floor mounted.

PLANNING Y OUR SYSTEM T hink about whic h components need to work together , and place them in close proximity to one another . Y ou may also w ant to consider putting frequently handled components in the most con- venient locations.
Placement It is recommended that the A C-8CX be placed in a location easily reached when manually operating the other controls in the system. T here should be a clear line of sight between the operator and the unit to allo w easy user feedback of system status.
PLANNING Y OUR A C CONNECTIONS Always On Outlets F or the Alwa ys On outlets, power will be routed to attached components at all times, regardless of whether the P ower Button on the A C-8CX is initiated or not.
MAKING CONNECTIONS Connecting Devices to the AC Outlets Be sure that the plugs are inserted all the wa y into the outlet to ensure a proper electrical connection. T o simplify set-up, make a note as to w hic h components are connected to w hic h outlets.
15 TROUBLESHOO TING A C-8CX does not power -up. T here is no power to the connected equipment. T he GROUND OK light on the front panel of the A C-8CX does not light up. T he LINE OK indicator on the front panel of the A C-8CX does not light up. • Check that the unit is plugged in and that there is power at the outlet.
16 TROUBLESHOO TING (continued) • T his indicates that either the w all outlet is not properly ground- ed, or the wall outlet has a line problem suc h as a polarity inv ersion, (or both).
