Insert th e SIM ca rd Your phone uses a micro-SIM card, al so known as a mini -UICC card. Do not attach any stickers to yo ur SIM card. 1 With the back of the phone facing you, plac e your fingernail in the gap on the right edge of the phone, and carefully lift and remo ve the back cove r.

Create your accounts Your phone guides you through the initial setup when you insert your SIM card and switch your phone on for the first time.
To create a Windows Live ID and Nokia account, you need an internet c onnection. For information about possible da ta costs, contact your network service provider. If you can't connect to the i nternet, you can create the accounts l ater. If you already have a Windows Live ID or Nokia account, sign in with your existing username and password.

Basics About the start screen Your start screen contains tiles that you can sele ct to open apps or call contac ts. Live tiles show you what's going on and what you've missed.
Important: Avoi d scratching the touch screen. Never use an actual pen, pencil, or other sharp object on the touch screen. Open an app or other screen element Tap the app or element. Tap and hold to open a me nu with further options Place your finger on an item, until the menu opens.
Example: Swipe left or right between the start screen and the apps m enu, or between different views i n the hubs. To quickly sc roll through a long list or menu, slide your finger quickly in a flicking motion up or do wn the screen, then lift y our finger.
Zoom in or out Place two fingers on an item, such as a map, picture, or web page, and slide your fingers apart or toget her. Use your phone when it's locked You can use certain features of yo ur phone whe n it is lock ed, withou t having to enter the security code.
Switch between open apps You can see which apps and tasks are open in the background, and switch between them. Press and hold , swipe le ft or right , and sele ct the de sired app .
Change your theme You can change the colours, to match your taste and mood. Select > and theme > Background or Accent colour . Tip: You can save battery power if you use a darker background.
Write text Use the virtual keyboard To open the virtual keyboard, select a text input field. You can use the virtual keyboard when holding your phone upright or on its side. 1 Character keys 2 Shift key 3 Numbers and symbols key 4 Smiley key 5 Space key 6 Language key.
Delete a characte r Select the backspace key. Switch between the writing languages Select the language key. Move the cursor Tap and hold the screen near the text, until a cursor is displayed. Without lifting your finger, drag the cursor to the desi red location.
Search inside an app 1 In an app, such as Marketplace, select . 2 Enter your search word in the s earch field, the n select from the proposed matches. 3S e l e c t . Use your voice to call a contact You can use your voice to make calls with your phone. Press and hold . Say Call and the contact's name. To cancel making the call, press . Tip: You can use your voice to make a phone cal l also th rough a Bluetooth headset.

Delete a contact group Select the group and > delete > delete . Upload a pi cture to a ser vice After you take a picture, uplo ad it to the web so all your friends can see what you're up to. You can also set up your phone to upload pictures automatically to soci al networking services. Select Pictures . 1 Browse your photo albums for the picture you want to share.
Manually add a mobile data access point 1 Select mobile network > add APN . 2 Enter the APN address in the APN field. 3 Enter the username and password for your mobile data account. 4 If the APN uses a proxy server, enter the address and port number in the appropriate fields.
