INTRODUCTION > 9 CHANGING THE DISPLAY LANGUAGE The languag e used by your printer for display mes sages and for report printing can be changed quickly and easily as follows: 1. Press the + k e y repeatedly to acc ess the Sy stem Configuration Menu.

For gener al use t he auto matic se ttings will suffice, providing reasonable default settings that will produce good res ults for mo st docum ents.

Lift the right-hand end of the car tridge and then draw the cartridge to the right to release th e left-hand end as sh own, and withdraw the toner c ar tridge out of the printer.
REP LAC ING C ONS UMA BLE ITEM S > 50 5. Put the cartridge down gently onto a piece of paper to prevent toner from marking your furniture and to avoid damaging the green drum sur fac e. 6. Remove the new cartridge from its box but lea ve its w rapping material in pla ce for the mo ment.

INSTALLING UPGRADES > 64 MEMOR Y UPGRADE The basic printer model come s equipped wi th 32MB of main mem ory. This can be upgrade d with an additional memo ry board containing 64MB or 2 56MB, gi ving a m aximum total memory capacity of 288M B.
INSTALLING UPGRADES > 65 6. C arefully remove the new memor y board from it s wrapping. T r y to handle the board only by its sh or t edges, avoiding c o ntact w i th any metal p ar ts as f ar as pos sible. In particular , avo i d to uc hin g the edg e conn ector .

Ho ld the ne w memory boa rd by its short ed ge s, so tha t the edge c o nnector fac es in towards the RAM expansion slot, and the small cutout is closer to t he bot tom of the pri nter. 11. Gently push the board into the RAM expans ion slot until it latches i n an d will no t go a ny f ur t he r.
INSTALLING UPGRADES > 67 SEC OND PAPER TRA Y An additional paper tray can be installed and, when combined with the standard paper t ray, increases the paper capacity to 830 sheet s (approximately). INSTALLING UPGRADES > 68 ADJUSTING WINDOWS PRINT ER DRIVERS Once your ne w upgrade has been inst alled, you may need to updat e the Windows printer driver so that the additional features are available to your Windows applications.
