32 Chapter 3 Recording and Playbac k B a s i c P r o c e d u r e s This section describes the basic procedur e for shooting and recor ding. Before you embark on a shoot, pr e-inspect your system to ensure that it works pr operly . For directions on inspecting your memory card camera- recor der , see [Inspections Before Shooting] (page 147).
33 Chapter 3 Recording and Playbac k S h oo ti n g White/Black Balance Adjustment to Recording Completion For shooting, follow the steps below . 3 1 4 2 5, 6 1 Use the ND FIL TER control to select a filter according to ambient light conditions. 2 When the white balance is sav ed: • Position the WHITE BAL switch to [A] or [B].

35 Chapter 3 Recording and Playbac k V a r i a b l e F r a m e R a t e ( V F R ) R e c o r d i n g In 720P mode, this camera is capable of frame skipping (undercranking) and high-speed (over cranking) recording. The camera operator can select between native (PN) recor ding mode and standard (OVER) recor ding.

Making the settings described below will provide film-quality playback.
37 Chapter 3 Recording and Playbac k Undercranking eff ects This effect pr oduces the quick motion often used for showing clouds drifting across the sky , crowds of people swarming past a solitary standing individual, a kung fu demonstration and other per formances.
38 Chapter 3 Recording and Playbac k During P2 card r ecording, setting items in the menu option RECORDING SETUP screen pr ovides the following special recor ding modes: pre-recor ding, interval recording, one- shot recor ding, and loop recording. These recor ding modes are available only with the following settings.

91 Chapter 5 Preparation W h it e S h a di n g Co m p e ns a t i on The camera can use DEF AUL T (fixed value) and three user adjustable functions (USER1, USER2, USER3) to store white shading compensation data. Select SHADING SELECT in the setting menu LENS SETUP screen to set compensation data.
92 Chapter 5 Preparation 2 Set the image. (1) Shoot a solid white sheet of paper . (2) Set the lens iris to manual and adjust the iris so that a zebra pattern fills the entire viewfinder screen. • When the piece of paper is unevenly lit, the zebra pattern will not cover the entire screen.
