(It is no rmal for the adaptor to feel warm duri ng use.) • If your unit is connected to a PBX whic h does not support Cal ler ID, you cannot access Caller ID services.

12 Programmable Settings Programming Guidelines This unit has se veral programmable func tions which can be selected from the function menu o n the display (p. 13). How to select a function item from the menu • T o go back to the previous menu, press Back , or press Select while “ ---(Go back)---- ” is displayed.

Programmable Settings 14 Date and Time Y ou need to set the date and time; — to display the time and date the calls were received in the Caller List, and — to announce the day and time when each message was recorded, during a message playback. • When entering the time in step 3, you cannot enter numbers greater than 12.

Programmable Settings 16 Line Mode The line mode i s preset to “B” an d generally should not be ad justed. If “ Line in use ” on the handset and “ ” on the base unit are not displayed properly , the line mode selection is incorrect. Set line mode to “A”.
Preparation 17 Programmable Settings Ringer V olume Y ou ca n select the handset or base unit ring er volumes to high, medium, low , or off. The factory preset is HIGH. If the hands et and base unit ringer is turned off, the handset or base unit will ring at the low level fo r intercom calls, and will no t ring for outside calls.

Preparation 23 Prep aring the Answering System Number of Rings Y ou can select the number of time s the unit rings before the Answering System answers a call, from “2” to “7” or “T o ll saver”*. The factory preset is “4”. If you select “ Greeting only ”, the unit wil l answer calls with the greeting message, and then hang up.
Prep aring the Answering System 24 Recording Mode T wo recording modes are availa ble. The factory preset is “S tandard recording (16min)”, which provides more recording time (16min) and standard sound quali ty . “Enhanced recording (8 min)” provides le ss recording time (8 min) but clearer sound quality .
T elephone System 25 Making Calls Using the Handset T o have a hands-free phone conversation 1 Press [ C ] . •“ Talk ” is displayed. 2 Dial a phone number. • The dialed number is displayed. • After a few seconds, the display will show the length of the call.

30 Caller ID Service This unit is compatible with Caller ID serv ices offered by your telephone company . If you subscribe to Caller ID, caller ’ s information will be displayed and record ed in the Caller List. How Caller ID info rmation is displayed When a call comes in, the unit will ring and the caller information will be received.

T elephone System 33 Using the Caller List The unit can record information up to 50 different callers and store this information in the Caller List. Caller information is so rted by the most recent call to the oldest. When the 51 st call is received, the information from the 1 st call is deleted.
Using the Caller List 34 • If a call has name informa tion, the caller ’s name and phone number are a lternately displayed a s shown on the right in step 2 on page 33. • If an arrow ( ) is displayed after the number in step 2 on page 33, the whole phone number will not be shown.

38 Phone Book The handset can store up to 50 names and phon e numbers in its phone book. Y ou can make a call by selecting a name or number from the phone book, and copy phone book items from one handset to anothe r (p. 43–44). Storing Names and Number s 1 Press Phone book .

Y ou can page all handsets at once from the base unit, and announce the page to all handsets ( V o ice Paging , page 47). The handsets have the extension number 1 and 2 which has “ [1] ” and “ [2 ] ” on the display .
