Before Use 5 Disc Informa tion ª Discs that can be play ed Use discs with the above logos and that confor m to specifications. The unit cannot play other discs c orrectly. Do not use irreg ularly shaped discs (e.g. heart-shaped), as these can damage the unit.

8 Connections When the unit is turned on after connecting the aerial ca ble and the mai ns lead, Plug i n Auto Tu ning starts autom atically. (NV-VP32GN o nly) Basic Connections The following conn ections are required to record the video cassette an d play back the video casset te/discs through the TV.
Getting Started Connections 9 For the V HS/DVD O UT terminal, VHS and DVD out puts can be swit ched or it c an be assigned for VHS output only ( l 12 ). The DVD OUT terminal can only output the DV D signal. Not e: ≥ When Video is switched to DVD or vice versa, the audio volume may suddenly increase or decr ease.
10 Operat ing the TV ≥ Turn on the TV. (1) TV Po wer b utton ( Í ) ≥ Press to s witch the TV from on to standby mode or vic e versa. On some TVs with this button, it is onl y possible to turn it to standby mode (OFF). It is not possible to turn it on.
Getting Started 11 Tuning the TV to Your Unit The unit supplies a signal to t he TV via the RF coaxial cable on channel AU28 s 69 or NZ21 s 69. It is possible to view the unit’s picture on your TV in the same way that you watch TV broadcasts.
12 Setting Up for VHS Make basic settings for VHS. These settings are retained in memory until they are changed, even if the unit is turned off. ≥ Select the unit v iewing channel (or the AV input) on the TV . ≥ Turn on the unit . ≥ Press [VHS] .

VHS Operations Playb ack 15 ≥ When the unit is of f, an inserted video cassette can be played back by pressing [ 1 ] (PLA Y) . ≥ You can eject tapes when the unit is in standby mode. It switches back to standby once it ejects the tape. ≥ When the tape reaches its end, this unit automatic ally rewinds it to t he beginning.

20 Search Functions ≥ Select the unit v iewing channel (or the AV input) on the TV . ≥ Press [VHS] . This unit can display a list of t he recorded programmes on the inserted video cassette on the TV screen. You can then select the desired programme, and this unit wil l quickly reac h its beginning and start playback.
VHS Operations Search Functions 21 You can find what kind of pr ogrammes are record ed with t he character a nd the icon indications. 1) Whi le the Jet Navigator list appears, press [ 1 ]. 2) Press [ 342 1 ] to select the desired category. 3) Press [ENTER].

The time and operation details appear on t he screen for about 5 seconds. Notes: ≥ These displays do not appear when paused or during slow play.
