C1555M-G (12/07) 9 Installation UNPACKING 1. Unpack and insp ect all equi pment, and veri fy delivery a ccording to t he packing slip. Before shippin g, Pelco connec ts, tests, and programs eac h system accordi ng to the individ ual sales order . Contact Pelco immedia tely if there is an y discrepancy in the equipme nt that you r eceive.
10 C1555M-G (12/07) MOUNTING Install the System 9770 in EI A-standard 19 -inch (48 .26 cm) racks. CM9770-MXB 1. Install the CM9770-MXB mounting ba ff le first (refer to Figure 1). The mounting baffle uses 1 ra ck unit (RU), and i t has front and re ar mounting ears , which are atta ched to the front and rear mo unting racks.
C1555M-G (12/07) 11 2. Install the CM9 770-MXB matrix ba y on top of t he mounting baff le. Refer to Figure 2. In a single-bay installation, always leave 1 RU of space above the matr ix bay for airflow . In a multiple-b ay installation you do not ne ed to leave ad ditional RUs ope n between units.
12 C1555M-G (12/07) CM9700-CC1 The CC1 must be located near th e CM9770-MXB matrix ba ys. Th e maximum distance between the CC1 an d the matrix bays should be no more than 4,000 feet (1 ,21 9 m). The CC1 occupies 4 RUs or 7 inche s (17.18 cm) of vertical space in a universal mount.
C1555M-G (12/07) 13 V IDEO INPUT/OUTPUT CONNECTIONS The following steps provide an overview of how to conne ct video inp ut and output sources. Mor e complete proc edures are provided in the subsequent sections. 1. Install the CM97 70-VCC and CM97 70-VMC cards in the matri x bay .
14 C1555M-G (12/07) INSTALLING VIDEO INPUT CARDS (CM9770-VCC) The first video input card is inserted into slot 1; the next card is inser ted in to slot 2 (refer to Figure 4). T o add a video ca rd, slide the card into the first availa ble slot. The CM9770-MXB ca n contain a max imum of eight v iideo input car ds.
C1555M-G (12/07) 15 INSTALLING MONITOR OUT PUT CARDS (CM9770-VMC) The monitor output ca rd located in slot 10 is the pr imary card, and it handles video fo r monitors 1-16. Refer to Figure 5. Note that the CM9770-MXB will not fun ction without a CM977 0-VMC card inserted in to slot 10.
16 C1555M-G (12/07) PERFORMING A BASI C LED CHECK Y ou should perf orm a basic LED c heck before yo u connect any video input or output to t he matrix bay. The LED check allows you t o ensure that the system is operat in g pr op er ly . 1. T urn on the power switch on the rear of the ma trix ba y .
C1555M-G (12/07) 17 INSTALLING REAR PANEL BNC CARDS The following rear panel car ds can be used with the CM9770-M XB matrix bay: • CM9770-RPC—the BNC card for vid eo connecti ons • CM9770-RPM—.
18 C1555M-G (12/07) Change the T ermination Jumpe rs on a Rear Pa nel Vi deo BNC Card In a single- bay , non-looping c onfiguration (up to 256 came ras and 32 mo nitors), th e jumpers must be set in the ter minated posit ion.
C1555M-G (12/07) 19 Looping Video When looping video out to another device (such as a DVR, VCR, or sw itcher), the connection instructio ns depend on the size of y our system, as follows: • In a system containing 32 monitors or fewer (the video is not downfra med), use the CM9 700-VPP panels to loop the video ou t.
20 C1555M-G (12/07) Insert or Replace a Rear Pane l Monitor BNC Card (CM9770-RPM) 1. Slide the moni tor BNC card int o the card gu ides at the rear of the bay . From the rear of the bay, the slot at the far left pr ovides the connection point for th e primary monitor ou tpu t card inserted in the fro nt of the bay into slot 10.
C1555M-G (12/07) 21 V IDEO INPUT/OUTPUT CAPACITY Single Bay A single CM97 70-MXB can suppo rt up to 256 camer a inputs (in i ncrements of 32) an d 32 monitor outputs (in i ncrements of 16 ). Ref er to Figure 12. Figure 12. Sample CM9770 Sy stem with 256 Cameras and 32 Monitors .
22 C1555M-G (12/07) Multiple Bay s, Single Node In a single-no de system with on e CM9700-CC1 (not networked), yo u can connect multiple CM9 770-MXBs using “side framing” and “downframing” for a maximu m capacity of 2,04 8 camera inputs and 256 monito r ou tputs.
