18 1 Getting Started Instal ling the SD Memory Card This ca mera uses a n SD Memory Card to record cap tured ima ges and recorded so und. Make sure that the camera is turned off before inserti ng or removing the SD Memor y Card. 1 Open t he battery /card co ver.
19 1 Getting Started Precautio ns When Using an SD Memor y Card • The SD Memo ry Ca rd is eq uipped with a w rite- prote ct sw itch. Setting the switch to LOCK protects the existing data by prohibiting recording of new data, deletion of existing data or formatting of the card.

Higher quality l evels and n umbers o f recorded pix els produ ce clear er images for printin g, but the resulting in crease i n data vo lume reduce s the total num ber of pic tures that can be ta ken.

23 1 Getting Started Adjusting the LCD Monitor The LCD monitor c an be swivele d 180 deg rees horiz ontally and 270 degre es verticall y. This is conv enient for recording you rself with Self- portrait mode, recording at a low an gle, or reco rding wi th the camera above yo ur head.
24 1 Getting Started Adjusting the Viewfinder The viewf inder can be adjus ted to suit y our eyesight . Slide the diopter adjustm ent leve r to the righ t or left to make the viewfinde r display sharper. The diop ter can be adjusted in the range o f –3 m -1 to + 1 m -1 (–9.
