1 To users of this ca mera • Do not use or store thi s camera in t he vic inity of equipment that generates st rong electromagnetic radiation or magnetic f ields.
2 • If any irregularities occur during use, such as sm oke or a strange odor, stop use immediately, remove the battery or the AC adapter, and contact your nearest PENTAX Service Center. Continued use can cause a fire or electrical shock. Caution • Do not plac e your finger over the fl ash when discharging the flash.
3 Caution • Do not place or drop heavy objects on or forcefully bend the AC plug c ord. Doing so may damage the cord. Should the AC plug cord be damaged, consult a PENTAX Service Center. • Do not touch or s hort-circuit the terminal area of the AC plug cord while the cord is plugged in.
4 Warning • Do not place t he camera and its accessori es within the rea ch of smal l child ren. 1. If the product falls or is operated accidentally, it may cause serious personal injuries. 2. Wrapping the strap around a neck may cause suffocation. 3.
5 • Do not subject the camera to high temperatures or high humidi ty. Do not leave the camera in a vehicle, as the temperature can get very high. • Do not subject the camera to strong vibrations, shocks, or pressure. Use a cushion to protect the camera from vibrations of motorcycles , automobiles, or shi ps.
6 • The SD Mem ory Card is equipped with a write- protect swi tch. Setting the s witch to LOCK prevents new da ta from bein g recorde d on the card, the st ored data fro m being deleted , and the card from being fo rmatted by the cam era or comput er.

Set the main switc h to the position [OFF] to turn off the camera. • Always turn the camera o ff when not in use. • The power will auto matically turn off wh en you do not perform any o perations within a se t period of time.

3 Basic Operations This chapter explai ns basic operati ons for shooting by setting mode dial to Green mode (automatic exposur e according to th e program line set to j ) to ensure successful capturin g. For information about advanced functions and settings for taking pi ctures, refer to chapter 4 and onward.
