Congr atulations on purchasing your new A T&T product. Before using this A T&T product, please r ead the Important pr oduct information on pages 35 -36 of this manual. Please thoroughl y read the user’s manual for all the featur e operations and troubleshooting information necessary t o install and operate your new A T&T product.

1 Pr oduct overview This A T&T TR1909 Trimline® telephone with call er ID/call waiting can be used either in tabletop or wall-mount position, and requir es four AA alkaline batteries (not included) for bat tery- powered functions. The t elephone can still operate with limited featur es when there are no batt eries installed.
Getting started 2 Handset layout OPTION Press to display the setting options. While in the option menu, press to sav e the selection and move to the next feat ure (page 13).
2 3 Getting started MEMORY Press to acc ess telephone numbers stored in the memory (page 23). Listening volume Slide to adjust the handset listening volume to L O , MED or HI (page 20). P AUSE/REDIAL When the handset is lifted, press t o redial the last number dialed (page 20).

6 7 Getting started 3. Clo se the ba tter y compa r tment cover. Make sure i t clic ks in to place . NOTE: Do not mix old and new batteries and do not mix alk aline and standard (carbon-zinc) batteries. When the batteries ar e installed, the screen will show 12:00 and the clock will begin to run.

9 Getting started Install ation options W all installation T o install the telephone base in the wall-mount position, mak e sure that you first unplug the t elephone line cord fr om the telephone wall jack and r emove it from the channel. 1. Lift the handset and place it aside.
Getting started 10 11 2. Remove the mounting bracket from the base. Hold the telephone base with both hands and then slide the brack et upwards as the arrows indicat e. 3. Rotate the br acket to the wall-mounting position. Push the bracket upwards as shown below until it clicks into place.

Getting started 12 3. Remove the bracket fr om the base. Hold the telephone base firmly and then slide the brack et downwards as the arrows indicat e. 4. Rotat e the bracket to the tabletop inst allation position. Push the bracket down as shown below until it clicks into place.

21 T elephone operation Flash If you subscribe to call waiting service fr om your local telephone servic e provider (see About caller ID on page 25), you hear a beep if someone calls while you ar e already on a call. Press FLASH on the handset to put y our current call on hold and t ake the new call.

25 About caller ID This product supports caller ID servic es that most local telephone servic e companies provide. Ther e is a fee for this service, and it might not be available in all ar eas. Caller ID with call waiting lets you see the name and telephone number of the caller be fore answering the telephone, even when on another call.
26 Caller ID operation How caller ID works If you subscribe to caller ID servic e provided by y our local telephone company , information about each caller appears between the first and second ring. If an incoming call is answered be fore the information appears on the scr een, no information is stor ed or displayed.
26 27 Caller ID operation Screen display Reason PRIVA TE The caller is blocking the name information. PPP The caller is blocking the number information. PRIVA TE CALLER The caller is blocking the name and number information. UNKNOWN Y our telephone company is unable to r eceive this caller’s name.

30 Caller ID operation 31 Copying a call log entry int o memory When you are r eviewing call log entries, you can copy the displayed tel ephone number to a one-touch or two-touch memory location. Lift the handset. Pres s or to scroll t o your desired entry .

32 Appendix 33 IN USE light does not go on. Make sur e four new AA batteries have been installed pr operly. • The IN USE light is flashing slowly . Make sur e that all telephone on the same line are hung up. Inspect the telephone line cor d connections at the wall jack.
32 33 Appendix My caller ID featur es are not working properly . Caller ID is a subscription service. Y ou must subscribe to this service fr om your local telephone company f or this feature to work on your telephone. The caller may not be calling fr om an area that supports caller ID.
