Protecting the LCD panel and screen p Do not allow direct sunlight to fall on the LCD screen when this product is not being used. Extended exposure to direct sunlight can result in LCD screen malfunction due to the resulting high temperatures.

2 T ouch [SD Insert]. The LCD panel opens, and the SD card slot ap- pears. 3 Insert an SD memory card into the SD card slot. Insert it with the label sur face facing to the up- side and press the card until it clicks and com- pletely locks. 4 Press the OPEN CLOSE button.
Plugging in a USB storage device % Plug a USB storage device into the USB connector . USB connector USB storage device p Compatibility with all USB storage device is not guaranteed. This navigation system may not achieve op- timum per formance with some USB sto- rage devices.

What you can do on each menu 1 T op Menu P ress the HOME button to display the “ To p Menu ” . This is the starting menu to access the desired screens and operate the various functions. There are two types of the “ T op Menu ” . Classic Menu Shortcut Menu p In this manual, “ Classic Menu ” will be referred to as “ T op Menu ” .
Selecting the Shortcut p Up to 15 menu items can be registered in shortcuts. 1 Press the HOME button repeatedly to display the “ Shortcut Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Shortcut]. The Short- Cut Selection screen appears. Scroll bar 3 T ouch the tab on the right edge or scroll the bar to display the icon that you want to set to shortcut.
Most of the information provided by your navigation system can be seen on the map. Y ou need to be- come familiar with how information appears on the map. Enlarged map of the intersec tion When “ Close Up View ” in the “ Map Settings ” screen is “ On ” , an enlarged map of the inter- section appears.
! North up: The map display always has north at the top of the screen. p The map orientation is fixed at “ North up ” in the following situation. — When the map scale is 50 kilometres (25 miles) or more. p The map orientation is fixed at “ Heading up ” in the following situation.
% When the map is displayed, touch . Quick Access menu : Route Options * Displayed when the map is not scrolled. This item can be selected only during route gui- dance. Y ou can modif y the conditions for route calcu- lation and recalculate the current route.
The general settings related with a map screen can be customised. T o customise the map screen, display the “ Map Settings ” screen. 1 Display the “ T op Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Settings]. The “ Settings Menu ” screen appears. 3 T ouch [Map Settings].
Setting the Favourites icon display Y ou can select whether to display the “ Favour- ites ” icon on the map. p Favourites icons are displayed when the map scale is 20 kilometres (10 miles) or less. % T ouch [Favourites Icon]. Each time you touch the key changes that set- ting.
# T ouch [ OK ]. Returns previous screen. 6 T ouch the subcategory . A red tick mark appears next to the selected categor y . T o cancel the selection, touch the entr y again. # If you want to search with more detailed cate- gories, touch [ Detail ]. T ouch the item and touch [ OK ].
Switching the view mode V arious types of screen displays can be se- lected for navigation guidance. 2D map screen 3D map screen Street View Rear View 1 Display the “ Map Settings ” screen. 2 T ouch [View Mode]. The “ View Mode ” screen appears.
2 T ouch [Road Colour]. Each time you touch the key changes that set- ting. ! [ Red ] (default): Changes to red based road colours. ! [ Blue ]: Changes to blue based road colours.
CAUTION For safety reasons, these route-setting functions are not available while your vehicle is in motion. T o enable these functions, you must stop in a safe place and put on the handbrake before set- ting your route. p Some information regarding traffic regula- tions depends on the time when the route calculation is per formed.
When the route calculation is completed, “ Route confirmation screen ” appears. [ Off ]*: Calculate a route that may include toll roads (including toll areas). [ On ]: Calculate a route that avoids toll roads (includ- ing toll areas). p The system may calculate a route that in- cludes toll road even if [ On ] is selected. Avoid Ferry This setting controls whether ferr y crossings should be taken into account.
1 T ouch [Waypoints] on the “ Route con- firmation screen ” . The “ Waypoints List ” screen appears. 2 T ouch [Add]. The “ Select Search Method ” screen appears. 3 Search for a location. After searching for a point, display it on a map, then touch [ OK ] to add to the “ Way- points List ” screen.
Y ou can check the route details. Y ou can also recalculate the route in different conditions. 1 Display the “ T op Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Destination]. The “ Destination Menu ” screen appears. 3 T ouch [Route Overview]. The “ Route Overview ” screen appears.
= F or details, refer to Chapter 8. 4 T ouch [OK] on the “ Waypoints List ” screen. The route is recalculated, and “ Route confir- mation screen ” appears. 5 T ouch [OK]. The map of the current position appears. Deleting a waypoint Y ou can delete waypoints from the route and then recalculate the route.
= F or details concerning operations, refer to Modifying the route calculation conditions on page 32. Cancelling the route guidance If you no longer need to travel to your destina- tion, follow the steps below to cancel the route guidance. 1 Display the “ Destination Menu ” screen.

4 T ouch the desired road. The “ Enter City Name ” screen appears. 5 Enter the city name and then touch [OK]. The “ Select City ” screen appears. 6 T ouch the desired city name. The “ Enter House Number ” screen appears. # T ouch . The representative location of the city appears on the map screen.
8 T ouch the desired house number range. The searched location appears on the map screen. Finding your destination by specifying the postcode If you know the postcode of your destination, you can use it to find your destination. p Depending on the search results, some steps may be skipped.
WEST STREET E “ East West Street ” is searchable. WES “ East West Street ” is not search- able. E WEST STREET “ East West Street ” is not search- able. Setting up a route to your home If your home location is stored, the route home can be calculated by touching a single key .
If the destination is in another countr y , this changes the countr y setting. p Once the country has been selected, you only have to change countries when your destination is outside of the countr y you se- lected. 4 T ouch the POI you want. The searched location appears on the map screen.
6 T ouch the POI you want. The searched location appears on the map screen. Selecting destination from “ Favourites ” Storing locations you visit frequently saves time and effort. Selecting an item from the list provides an easy way to specif y the position.
Searching for a locat ion by coordinates Entering a latitude and longitude pinpoints the location. 1 Display the “ Destination Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Coordinates]. The “ Coordinate Input ” screen appears. 3 T ouch [East] or [West], and then enter the longitude.
Registering a location into “ Favourites ” Registering a location by “ Favourites ” Favourites can store up to 400 registered lo- cations. These can include your home loca- tion, favourite places, and destinations you have already registered. 1 Display the “ Destination Menu ” screen.
Editing your home When you have already registered your home, you can edit the information of your home. 1 Display the “ Destination Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Favourites]. The “ Favourites ” screen appears. p Home location is displayed on the top of the list.
Displayed when all locations are selected. Can- cels all selected locations. 5 T ouch [Delete]. A message will appear asking you to confirm the deletion.
5 T ouch [Y es]. Data import starts. After importing the data is finished, the “ Fa- vourites ” screen appears. Deleting an entry in “ History ” Items in History can be deleted. All entries in History can be deleted at once. 1 Display the “ Destination Menu ” screen.
If your devices feature Bluetooth â technology , this navigation system can be connected to your devices wirelessly . This section describes how to set up a Bluetooth connection. For more information about the connectivity with the devices featuring Bluetooth wireless technology , refer to the information on our website.
The system searches for devices featuring Bluetooth technology that are waiting for the connection and displays them in the list if the device has found. p Up to 30 devices will be listed in the order that the devices are found. 4 Wait until your Bluetooth device ap- pears in the list.
p If you cannot find the desired model name on the list, touch [ Other phones ] to search the devices available nearby. 6 T ouch the Bluetooth device name you want to register . The message “ Please follow the instructions on your mobile phone. ” appears.
Deleting a registered device When you have already registered 5 Bluetooth devices and you want to add another one, you must first delete one of the registered devices. p If a registered phone is deleted, all the phone book entries and call histor y lists that correspond to the phone will be also cleared.
5 T ouch the profile that you want to con- nect. Y ou can select the following profiles: ! [ Handsfree and Audio ]: Connects the device as the hands-free phone and the Bluetooth audio player . ! [ Audio ]: Connects the device as Bluetooth audio player .
CAUTION For your safety , avoid talking on the phone as much as possible while driving. If your mobile phone features Bluetooth ® tech- nology , this navigation system can be con- nected to your mobile phone wirelessly . Using this hands-free function, you can operate the navigation system to make or receive phone calls.
Making a call home easily Y ou can call home without taking the time to enter the phone number if the phone number has been registered. 1 Display the “ Phone Menu ” screen. 2 T ouch [Call Home]. Dialling home starts. p If you have not registered your home num- ber , a message appears.
3 T ouch an entry on the list. Dialling starts. p T o cancel the call after the system starts dialling, touch . # T ouch [ Detail ]. The “ Detailed Information ” screen appears. Y ou can check the details of the party before mak- ing a phone call.
Y ou can check the details of the party before mak- ing a phone call. 4 T ouch to end the call. Dialling the entry in the “ Favourites ” Y ou can make a call to the entr y registered in the “ Favourites ” . 1 Display the “ Destination Menu ” screen.
If [ Auto Answer Preference ] is set to [ Off ], answer the call manually . Answering is avail- able if any scree n is displayed, such as the map screen or the setting screen. p Y ou can set this navigation system to auto - matically answer incoming calls.
p The maximum 1 000 entries can be trans- ferred per mobile phone. If the entries ex- ceed 1 000 , the extra entries will not be transferred. If more than one number is re- gistered for one person, such as work place and home, each number is counted sepa- rately .
3 T ouch to delete the current name, and enter the new name by using the key- board. 4 T ouch [OK]. The name is changed. p Up to 16 characters can be entered for a de- vice name. Editing the password Y ou can change the password to be used for authentication on your mobile phone.
Setting the automatic rejection function If this function is on, the navigation system automatically rejects all incoming calls. 1 Display the “ Bluetooth Settings ” screen. 2 T ouch [Refuse All Calls]. T ouching [ Refuse All Calls ] switches between [ On ] and [ Off ].
Notes for hands-free phoning General notes ! Connection to all mobile phones featuring Bluetooth wireless technology is not guar- anteed. ! The line- of-sight distance between this na- vigation system and your mobile phone must be 10 metres or less when sending and receiving voice and data via Bluetooth technology .
The options in the “ Navi Settings ” menu Displaying the “ Navi Settings ” screen 1 Press the HOME button to display the “ T op Menu ” . 2 T ouch [Settings]. The “ Settings Menu ” screen appears. 3 T ouch [Navi Settings]. The “ Navi Settings ” menu appears.
2 T ouch [3D Calibration Status]. The “ 3D Calibration Status ” screen appears. 2 3 4 5 1 6 7 1 Speed The speed detected by the navigation sys- tem is indicated. (This indication may be different from the actual speed of your vehi- cle, so please do not use this instead of the speedometer .
Using the “ Fuel Mileage ” funct ion Inputting the fuel consumption information for calculating the fuel cost Y ou can estimate the fuel cost to your destina- tion by entering the fuel consumption informa- tion in the navigation system. 1 Display the “ Navi Settings ” screen.
4 Enter the following settings: ! [ Distance ]: Enter the distance travelled since the pre- vious fuelling. p The distance is entered automatically only when the distance travelled since the previous fuelling is recorded. ! [ Fuel Pumped ]: Enter the amount of fuel pumped.
! [ On ]: Y ou can export your track log to the SD card. ! [ Off ] (default): Y ou cannot export your track log to the SD card. # T ouch [ T ype ]. Each time you touch the key changes that set- ting. ! [ Private ] (default): Set the track log attribute to “ Private ” .
Options on the “ System Settings ” menu Displaying the “ System Settings ” screen 1 Press the HOME button to display the “ T op Menu ” . 2 T ouch [Settings]. The “ Settings Menu ” screen appears. 3 T ouch [System Settings]. The “ System Settings ” screen appears.
5 T ouch the desired language. After the language is selected, the screen re- turns to the previous screen. 6 T ouch [OK]. The navigation system restarts. Setting the time difference Adjusts the systems clock. Set the time differ- ence ( + , – ) from the time originally set in your navigation system.
3 T ouch [+] or [ – ] to set the speed. p The estimated time of arrival is not necessa- rily estimated based on this speed value. 4 T ouch [OK]. The settings are completed. Setting the V olume for Guidance and Phone The sound volume for the navigation can be set.
Changing to the splash screen stored in the SD memory card Y ou can change the splash screen that ap- pears when the navigation system starts. Copy your chosen image to the SD memor y card, and select the image to import.
3 T ouch [Camera] to tur n it [On]. p Y ou can only switch to “ Rear View ” if this setting is [ On ]. 4 T ouch [Battery] or [GND] next to “ Polarity ” to select the appropriate polarity setting.
p If [ Scan ] is set, [ Custom ] cannot be se- lected. 3 T ouch [+] or [ – ] to adjust the values for Red, Green and Blue to create a favourite colour . W atch the illumination of hardware keys while adjusting the colour . Each time you touch [ + ]o r[ – ] increases or de- creases the value of the selected item.
T ur ning off the screen By turning off the backlight of the LCD screen, you can turn off the screen display without turning off the voice guidance. % T ouch [Screen Off] on the “ Settings Menu ” menu. = F or details concerning operations, refer to Screen switching over view on page 18.
Y ou can listen to the radio by using the naviga- tion system. This section describes operations for radio (FM). The functions related to RDS (Radio Data Sys- tem) are available only in areas with FM sta- tions broadcasting RDS signals.
p If you touch and hold [ c ]o r[ d ], you can skip broadcasting frequencies. Seek tuning will start as soon as you re- lease the keys. p Y ou can also per form these operations by using the TRK ( c / d ) button. 4 Select an FM band T ouch [ Band ] repeatedly until the desired FM band is displayed, FM1 , FM2 or FM3 .
Displaying radio text Y ou can display the currently received radio text and the three most recent radio text trans- missions. 1 T ouch [T ext] to display radio text. Radio text for the currently broadcasting sta- tion is displayed. p When no radio text is received, “ No T ext ” is displayed.
2 T ouch [Start] to start “ BSM ” . BSM begins to flash. While BSM is flashing, the six strongest broadcast frequencies will be stored under the preset tuning keys [ P1 ]t o [ P6 ] in order of their signal strength. When this is complete, BSM stops flashing.
Receiving traffic announc ements TA (traffic announcement standby) lets you re- ceive traffic announcements automatically, no matter what source you are listening to.
Using news programme interruption When a news programme is broadcast from a PTY code news station, the navigation system can switch from any station to the news broad- cast station. When the news programme ends, reception of the previous programme re- sumes.

Y ou can listen to the radio using this naviga- tion system. This section describes operations for radio (MW/L W). % T ouch [AM] on the “ A V Source ” menu to display the “ AM ” screen. = F or details concerning operations, refer to Screen switching over view on page 18.
Switching between the detailed information display and the preset list display Y ou can switch the left side of the basic screen according to your preference. % T ouch [Preset] (or [Detail]). Each touch of [ Preset ] (or [ Detail ]) changes the detailed information display or preset list display .
p Storing broadcast frequencies with BSM may replace broadcast frequencies you have already saved by using [ P1 ]t o[ P6 ]. T uning in strong signals Local seek tuning allows you to tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception.
Y ou can play a normal music CD using the built-in drive of the navigation system. This section describes how . 1 Insert the disc you want to play into disc-loading slot. Playback starts from the first track of the CD. 2 T ouch [Disc] on the “ A V Source ” menu to display the “ CD ” screen.
T ouching [ p ] skips to the start of the next track. T ouching [ o ] once skips to the start of the current track. T ouching it again will skip to the previous track. F ast reverse or forward T ouch and hold [ o ]o r[ p ] to fast rewind or fast forward.
Y ou can play a disc that contains compressed audio files using the built-in drive of the navi- gation system. This section describes these operations. p In the following description, the MP3, WMA, AAC files are collectively referred to as “ Compressed audio file ” .
Using the touch panel keys 2 5 3 1 4 1 Display the “ Function ” menu = F or details, refer to Using the “ Function ” menu on the next page. 2 Switch the media file type played When playing a disc containing a mixture of various media file types, you can switch be- tween media files types to play .

Y ou can play a DVD - Video using the built-in drive of the navigation system. This section de- scribes operations for playing a DVD-V ideo. Y ou can display the menu by touching [ Menu ] or [ T op Menu ] while a disc is playing. T ouch- ing either of these keys again lets you start playback from the location selected from the menu. For details, refer to the instructions pro - vided with the disc.
Searching for a specific scene and starting playback from a specified time Y ou can search for the scene you want by spe- cifying a title or a chapter , and the time. p Chapter search and time search are not possible when disc playback has been stopped.
2 T ouch [Enter]. Playback starts from the selected menu item. The way to display the menu differs depending on the disc. # T ouch [ Position ]. Each touch of [ Position ] changes the display po- sition of touch panel keys. # T ouch [ Hide ]. The touch panel keys are hidden.

6 Switch the display T ouching [ Disp ] changes the information as follows: Disc information display — Repeat range dis- play 7 Hide the touch panel keys T ouching [ Hide ] hides the touch panel keys. T ouch anywhere on the LCD screen to display the touch panel keys again.
% T ouch [Mode Change] to switch the play mode. If the play mode is changed, playback starts from the beginning of the selected play mode. Using the short-time skip function This function enables you to skip over your specified inter val on the video playback.

Configure the DVD-Video/DVD- VR/DivX player . Displaying DVD/DivX® Setup menu 1 Play the disc that contains DVD-Video, DVD-VR or DivX. 2 T ouch [Disc] on the “ A V Source ” menu to display the normal playback screen. = F or details concerning operations, refer to Screen switching over view on page 18.
! Letter Box — The picture is in the shape of a letter box with black bands at the top and bottom of the screen ! Panscan — The picture is cut short at the right and left of the screen p When playing discs that do not have a pan- scan system, the disc is played back with [ Letter Box ] even if you select [ Panscan ] setting.
Setting the subtitle file for DivX Y ou can select whether to display DivX exter- nal subtitles or not. p If no DivX external subtitle files exist, the original DivX subtitles are displayed even when [ Custom ] is selected. 1 Display the “ DVD/DivX® Setup ” screen.

Y ou can play the compressed audio files stored in the external storage device (USB, SD). p In the following description, the SD mem- or y card and USB memor y device are col- lectively referred to as the “ external storage device (USB, SD) ” . If it indicates the USB memor y device only, it is referred to as the “ USB storage device ” .
9 Play time indicator Shows the elapsed playing time within the current track. a Cur rent time b Cur rent file number and total number of files Shows the file number currently played and the total number of playable audio files. c T rack title indicator Shows the title of the track currently playing (when available).
T ouching displays the content of the upper folder (parent folder). If the uppermost folder is listed, cannot be used. 3 T ouch the track you want to play . p T o cancel the list screen, touch [ Detail ]. Y ou cann ot position your vehicle on the map witho ut a significant positioning error . The navigation system may not be mounted securely in your vehicle. Check that the navigation system is securel y mounted and, if necessar y , consult the dealer that installed the system.
Nothing is displayed and the touch panel keys cannot be used. The setting for the rear view camera is incorrect. Select the appropriate setting for the rear view camera. The gearstick was placed in [R] when the rear view camera was not connected. Select the correct polarity setting for [ Back Camera ].
The picture stops (pauses) and the navigation system cannot be operated. The reading of data is impossible during disc playback. After touching g once, start playback once more. The picture is stretched, with in- correct aspect ratio. The aspect setting is incorrect for the display.
Messages and how to react to them The following messages may be displayed by your navigation system. Refer to the table below to identify the problem, then take the suggested corrective action. There are occasions when you may see error messages other than those shown here.

Positioning techno logy Positioning by GPS The Global Positioning System (GPS) uses a network of satellites orbiting the Earth. Each of the satellites, which orbit at a height of 21 000 km, continually broadcasts radio sig- nals giving time and position information.
Map matching As mentioned, the positioning systems used by this navigation system are susceptible to certain errors. Their calculations may, on occa- sion, place you in a location on the map where no road exists.
Conditions likely to cause noticeable positioning errors F or various reasons, such as the state of the road you are travelling on and the reception status of the GPS signal, the actual positio n of your vehicle may differ from the position dis- played on the map screen.
! If you are on a steep mountain road with many height changes. ! If you enter or exit a multi-storey car park or similar structure using a spiral ramp. ! If your vehicle is turned on a turntable or si- milar structure. ! If your vehicle ’ s wheels spin, such as on a gravel road or in snow .
CAUTION When a route is calculated, the route and voice guidance for the route are automatically set. Also, for day or time traffic regulations, only infor- mation about traffic regulations applicable at the time when the route was calculated is shown.
Built-in drive and care ! Use only conventional, fully circular discs. Do not use shaped discs. ! Do not use cracked, chipped, warped, or otherwise damaged discs as they may da- mage the built-in drive. ! Do not touch the recorded sur face of the discs.
