Connecting your equipment 03 21 En Installing your speaker system To take full advantage of the receiver’s surround sou nd capa bilities connect front, center, surroun d and surround back speakers, as well as a subwoofer.
Connecting your equipment 03 22 En Bare wire connection s Make sure that the speaker cable you’re going to use is properly prepared with about 10 m m ( 3 / 8 in.) of insulator stripped from each wire, and the exposed wire strands twisted together ( fig.
Connecting your equipment 03 23 En The diagrams below show suggested surround and surround back speaker orientation. The first diagram ( fig. A ) shows orientation with one surround back speaker (or none) connected. The second ( fig. B ) shows orientatio n with two surround back speakers connected.

Listening to your system 05 33 En Using Stream Direct Use the Stream Direct mo des when you want to hear the truest possible reproduct ion of a source. All unnecessary signal processing is bypassed, and you’re left with the pure analog or digital sound source (see St ream direct with different input signal formats on page 101).

The System Setup menu 07 45 En • Reverberance of hig h vs. low frequencies – Depending on your r oom, you may find that lower frequencies seem overly reverberant compa red to higher frequencies (i. e. your room sounds ‘boom y’). This may result in a skewed frequency analysis if the measurement i s done too la te.
The System Setup menu 07 46 En 4 If you selected ‘ Reverb View ’, you can check the reverb characteristics for each channel. Press RETURN when you’re done. This appears according to the setting you chose in Reverb Measurement (step 3 on page 45).

The System Setup menu 07 50 En Speaker Dista nce For good sound depth and sepa ration from your system, you need to specify the dista nce of your speak ers from the listening position. The receiver can then add the proper delay needed for effective surround sou nd.
The System Setup menu 07 51 En 3 Specify the distance of your sur round back speakers from each other. • 0 – 1 ft – Surround speakers within 1 foot apart (best for THX surround sound). • > 1 – 4 ft – Surround speakers between 1 and 4 feet apart.
Other connections 08 52 En Chapter 8: Other connections Caution • Before making or changing the connections , swi tch off the power and disconnect the power co rd from the power outlet. Plugging in components should be th e last connection you make with your system.

Other connections 08 62 En MULTI-ZONE listening options The following table shows what you can listen to in the sub zone: Basic MULTI-Z ONE setup ( ZONE 2 ) • Connect a separate amplifier to the ZONE 2 AUDIO OUT jacks and a TV monitor to the ZONE 2 VIDEO OUT jacks, both on the rear of this receiver.
