m52L Quick St ar t Guide 020-0910-00A This guide walks you through the basic setup needed to get your new Planar displays up an d running. Detailed information is contained in the Installation Guide, which is in a CD-ROM on the back of this guide. Plan ar Sys tems, In c.
Product and Saf ety Inf orm ation The m52L is a 52” diagonal direct-view L CD monitor that can be wall-mounted, ceiling mounted or mounted on a stan d. The display can be por trait or landscape. Mountin g should be done so the logo is a s shown. The m52L is 5" deep.
2 Unpacking the Display Unpacking the Display Planning Before y ou unpack your displays, you should hav e a detailed plan of how the displays are to be c onfigured.
3 Installi ng the VIM Inst alling the Video Input Module (VIM) If you r eceive the optional V ideo Input Module (VIM) separ ately , use the following instructions to install it. Y our VIM shipment should include the f ollowing items: VIM boar d, new VIM cover , mounting screws, washers/nuts and a g round strap.
4 Inst alling Scree n Brackets Inst alling Screen Brackets The f ollowing diagram show s where to place sc reen brackets if you are tiling the m52L. F or countries outside of Nor th America, it is the responsibility of the installer to pro vide the power supply cord cert ified for use in the destination country.

9 Adjust Le vels, Analog Adjusting Le vels f or An alog Sources This page applies to analog RGB (c omputer) pictures onl y. Th e levels are best adjusted semi-automa tically. F or analog RGB pict ures, the levels for black and white var y from one computer to anot her , or from one video processor to another .
10 Adjust Input Le vels, P osition Adjusting Input Le vels and P osition Adjusting Le vels f o r Video Sources Video sour ces are adjusted best if a color bar test pattern is availa ble from the video sourc e: the DVD or VCR player . If not, you will ha ve to adjust by eye and the “f eel” of the picture.
11 Color Balancing Color Balancing f or On e Display Color Bala nce is used to match the color s of adjacen t displays when several displays are arranged in an array . Y o u can also use it to adjust the color of a single display . F or one display , the Color Balan ce controls can be used to set the color t emperature of that display .
12 Color Balancing Color Balancing f or Multiple Displays Color balancing makes the individua l displays in an array show the same colors. Colors var y sl ightly from one display to the next, because of slight var iations in the ba ckli ghts and display panels.
13 Recommended Usage Recommended Usage In order to get the most out of your m52L, use the following recomme nded guidelines to optimize the displa y.
