Chapter 4 Quick Setup This section describes the b asic co nfiguration of the WM RT -414 and allows you to co nnect to Internet easily . 4.1 Time Zone The time information is used for Log entri es and Firewall settings. Y ou can kee p the default Time Server address or set a new IP address for your router to synchronize its time.
4.2 Broadband Type Before establishing the Internet connection, please be sure to check with your ISP , and obtain all necessary information from them. Broadband Description Cable Modem ISP will automatically give you an IP address. Please refer to section 4.
4.2.1 Cable Modem With Cable Modem connectio n, the ISP will automatically give you an IP address. Some ISP may also require you to fill in add itional information su ch as Host Name and MAC address (see scr een below).
4.2.2 Fixed-IP xDSL Select Fixed-IP xDSL if your ISP has given you a s pecified IP address. Y our ISP should provide al l the information required in this section. Parameters Description IP address assigned by your Service Provider The IP address that your ISP should provide you.
4.2.3 PPPoE xDSL Select PPPoE if your ISP requires the PPPoE protocol for Internet connectivity . Chapter 5 General Setup After click on the “General Setup” button at the main Page, you should see the screen belo w . The General Setup contains advanced features that allow you to conf igur e th.
5.1 System This section shows how to setup the Broadband ro ut er ’s system T ime Zone, Password and Remote Management Administrator . - 19 -.
5.1.1 Time Zone The T ime Zone allo ws WMR T -414 to all ocate its time wi th the settings configured; it will af f ect log display functions such as Security Log and Fire wall settings. Parameter Description Set T ime Zone Select the time zone of the country you are c urrently in.
5.1.2 Password Setup This screen allows you to cha nge the ma nagement password. Parameters Description Current Pass word Enter your current password for the remote management administrator to login to your Broadba nd router . Ne w Pa ss wo rd E nt er you r n ew pas s wo rd .
5.1.3 Remote Management Y ou can specify a Host IP address that can perform remote management from Internet. Parameters Description Host Address The IP address of the host on Inter net that will have mana gement / configuratio n access to the Broadband router .
5.2 WAN The WAN Settings screen allows you to specif y the ty pe of Internet connection. T he W AN settings of fer the following selections for the router ’s W AN port, Dynamic IP , St atic IP , PPPoE , PPTP , L2TP , and T elstra Big Pond .
5.2.1 Dynamic IP If Dynamic IP is selected, your ISP will automatically give you an IP address. Some ISP’s may also require that you fill in additional information such as Host Name, Domain Name and MAC address. Please refer to the section 4.2.1 for more settings of this option.
5.2.2 St atic IP If S tatic IP is selected, your ISP should provide al l the information required in this screen. Please refer to the section 4.2.2 for more settings of this option.
5.2.3 PPPoE Select PPPoE if your ISP requires PPPoE protocol to connect to the Internet. Y our ISP should provide all the information required in this section.
5.2.4 PPTP Select PPTP if your ISP requires the PPTP protocol to connect to the Internet. Y our ISP should provide all the information required in this section.
5.2.5 L2TP Select L2TP if your ISP requires the L2TP protocol to connect to the Interne t. Y our ISP should provide all the information required in this section.
5.2.6 T elstra Big Pond Select T elstra Big Pond if your ISP is using this s pecial protocol. T elstra Big Pond protocol is used by the ISP in Australia. Y our ISP should provide all the in formation required i n this section. Please refer to section 4.
5.2.7 DNS A Domain Name S ystem (DNS) server is like an inde x of IP addresses and Web addresses. If you type a Web address into your browser , such as www . rout er .com, a DNS server will find that name in its index and the matching IP address. Most ISPs prov ide a DNS server for efficiency and convenience.
5.2.8 DDNS DDNS allows you to map the static domain name to a dynamic IP address. Y ou must get an account , password and your static domain name from the DDNS service pro viders. This router supports DynDNS and TZO. Parameters Description Dynam ic DNS Enable/Disable the DDNS function of this router.
5.3 LAN The LAN Port screen below allo ws you to specify a pr ivate I P address for your router ’s LAN interface. - 32 - Parameters Description LA N IP IP Address Designate the Access Point’s IP Address. This IP Addr ess should be unique i n your network.
Domain Name Y ou can specify the Domai n Name for your Access Point. After configuration complete, pleas e click “Apply” butto n to save the configu ration.
5.4.1 Basic Settings WMRT -414 supports not only Access Point function, but also provides Bridge an d WDS mode. Pleas e Refer to “Chapter 6 W ireless Configuration ” know the details settings of w ireless Basic Settings. In Default, WMRT -414 will work with AP mode.
Parameters Description Fragment Threshold “Fragment T hreshold” specifies the ma ximum size of packet during the fragmentation of data to be trans mitted.
5.4.3.1 WEP When you select 64-bit or 128-bit WEP key , you hav e to en ter WEP keys to encrypt data. Y ou can generate the key by yo urself. Y ou can enter four WE P ke ys and select one of them as default key . Then the access point will just allow the clients t hat with the same encryption keys connected.
Parameter Description Encryption Please select “WEP” in this option. Key Length Y ou can select the 64 or 128-bit ke y to encrypt transmitted data.
Parameter Description Encryption If you want to use 802.1x only, keep this setting in “D isab le”. Enable 802.1x Authenticatio n Please check this option to enabl e 80 2.1x function. RADIUS Server IP Address Enter RADIUS Serer IP address. RADIUS Server Port Leave the default port setting or assign a new port number for this option.
Parameter Description Encryption Please select “WPA pre-shar ed ke y” in this option. WP A (TKIP) TKIP can change the encryption key frequently to enhance the wireless LAN security . WP A2 (AES) This use CCMP protocol to change encryption key frequently .
5.4.3.4 WPA RADIUS Y ou can use a RADIUS server to authentic ate wireless stations and provide the session key to encrypt data during communication. It uses TKIP or CCMP ( AES) to change the encryption key frequently . Parameter Description Encryption Please select “WPA RADIUS” in this option.
5.4.4 Access Control WMRT -414 provides MAC Address F iltering, which prevents the unauthorized users from accessing your wireless network. Parameters Description Enable Wireless Access Control Enable or disable the MAC A ddress Filtering function.
5.5 QoS Quality of Service (QoS) refers to t he capability of providing better service to selected network traffic. The primary goal of QoS is to provide priorit y incl uding dedic ated bandwidth, controlled jitter and late ncy (required by some real-time and interactive traffic), and improved loss character istics.
5.5.1 Add/Edit QoS Rule Y ou can assign packet classification criteria by its source IP range, destination IP range, traffic type, protocol, source port range and destination port rang e parameters. The parameters that you leave as blank will be ignored.

5.6.1 Port Forwarding The Port Forwarding allo ws you to re-direct a pa rticular rang e of service port numbers (from the Internet/W AN Ports) to a p articular LAN IP addr ess. Current Port Forwarding T able Delete Selected If you want to remove some MAC addr ess from the “Curre nt Access Control List”, select the MAC addresses you want to remove in the table and then click “Delete Selected”. Delete All If you want remove all MAC addresse s from the table, just click this button.
Note: Y ou need to give yo ur LAN PC clients a fixed/static IP address for Virtual Server to work properly . Private Port T his is the port number (of the above Private IP host) that the below Public Port number will be changed to when the packet enters your LAN (to the LAN Server/Client IP).
5.6.3 Special Applications Some applications require multiple co nnections, su ch as Internet games, video conferencing, Internet telephony and others. In this section you can confi gure the router to support multipl e connections for these types of applications.

5.6.4 UPnP UPnP is more than just a simple extension of t he Plug and Pl ay peripheral model. It is designed to support zero-configuration, "i nvisible" networking, and automatic disc overy for a breadth of device categories from a wide range of vend ors.

5.7.1 Access Control This screen allows you to restrict users from a ccessing c ertain Internet applications/services (e.g. Internet websites, email, FTP etc. ). Network administrator can define the traffic type permitted in your LAN and control which PC client can have a ccess to these services.

Chapter 6 Wireless Configuration In this chapter , you can Enable/Disa ble wireless function and configure the WMRT -414 work in different operating mode. Please refer to belo w sections to know the details configuration of each operating mode. 6.1 AP Mode - 59 - This mode is set to WMRT -414 by default.
Parameter Description Mode Shows the current operation mode. You may set WMRT -414 to other operating mode by select other operatin g mode. Band 2.4GHz (B): It forces the WMRT-414 to operate in 80 2.11 b only. 2.4GHz (G): It forces the WMRT-414 to operate in 802.
6.2 AP Bridge - Point to Point Mode This function allows WMRT -414 to bridge 2 wired Ethernet networks wirelessly. Parameter Description Mode Shows the current operation mode. You may set WMRT-414 to other op erating mode by select other operatin g mode.
6.3 AP Bridge - Point to Multipoint Mode This function allows WMRT -414 to bridge more than 2 wired Ethernet networks together b y wireless connection. Parameter Description Mode Shows the current operation mode. You may set WMRT -414 to other operating mode by select other operatin g mode.

6.5.2 WPA-PSK Wi-Fi Protected Access (WP A) is an advanced s ecuri ty standard. Y ou can us e a pre-shared key to authenticate wireless stations and encrypt data durin g com munication. It uses TKIP or CCMP (AES) to change the encryption ke y frequently .
Chapter 7 Status The S tatus screen allo ws you to monitor the current st atus of your router . Y ou can use the S tatus page to monitor the connection status of W AN and LAN interfaces, the current f.
7.1 Internet Connection View WMR T-414’ s c urrent Internet connec tion status and other related information. 7.2 Device Status - 68 - View WMR T -414’s current configuration settings. The De vic e S tatus displays the c onfiguration settin gs of WLAN and LAN.
7.3 System Log This screen will show you the real -time information of WMRT -414. - 69 - Parameters Description System Log T his page show s the current sy stem log of WMRT -414. It displays the working information about WMRT -414. About the bottoms of the p age, the system log can be saved to a local fil e by press “Save” button.
press “Clear” button to clear the system log . It can be refreshed to get the most updated situation by press “R efresh” button. Wh en the system is powered down, the system log will be clear ed. 7.4 Security Log View any attempts that have been made to illegally gain access to your net work.
7.5 Active DHCP Client View your client's information that is currently linked to WMRT -414's DHCP server . Parameters Description DHCP Clie nt T able This page show s all the DHCP clients currently connected to your net w or k.
7.6 Statistics View the st atistics of packets sent and received on WLAN, LAN and W AN. Parameters Description S tatistics Sho ws the counters of packets sent and received on WLAN, LAN and W AN.
Chapter 8 Tools This page includes the basic configuration tools, such as Config uration T ools (save or restore configuration settings), Firmware Upgrade (u pgrade system firmware) and Reset. 8.1 Configuration Tools The Configurat ion T ools screen allows you to “Back up” the router ’s current configuration setting.
Parameters Description Configuration T ools Use the " Backup " tool to save WMRT -414 curr ent configuration to a file named "config.bin" in yo ur PC. Y ou can then use the " Restore " tool to restore the saved configur ation to W MR T -414.
Parameters Description Firmware Upgr ade T his tool allows you to upgrade WMRT -414’s system firmware. T o upgrade the firmware of your Broadband router , you need to download the firm ware file to your local hard disk, and ent er that file name and path in the appropriate field on this page.
Parameters Description Reset In the event that the system stops responding corre ctly or in some way stop s functioning, you can perform a reset. Y our s ettings will not be changed . T o perform the reset, click on the “Apply” button. Y ou will be asked to confirm your decision.
