E – 2 Installation * Allow at least 10 cm (3.9 inch) of space betw een the projector top panel and its surroundings. Also allow at least 10 cm (3.9 inch) of other spaces around the pro- jector . * The projector should be placed on a flat, lev el surf ace and in a dry area free from dust and moisture.

Attention! Pay special attention to the ventilation outflow holes.

The remote control poc ket of the storage case will con veniently hold the remote control. T o av oid scratches to the main unit, collect the power cord and connection cab les and place them in the cable pouch.

E – 11 Pr eparing the Remote Control Inserting the Batteries When using the remote control f or the first time, install the batteries that were supplied. When replacing batteries, purchase two of the same type of AA battery . Press and at the same time lift the batter y case cov er at the rear of the remote control to remov e it.

E – 13 Placement Guide Use this information as a guide to find the rough screen size when the projector is placed at a certain location, or to find out the approximate siz e of a screen that will be required. The projection distance ov er which focussing is adjustable is 1.

E – 20 8 Input Selection 3 Press the SOURCE button and select the desired connector . SOURCE A press of the SOURCE button will displa y the currently selected input selection.

E – 31 Input Video Adjustments [Pictur e 2] Pan Adjustment of Screen Display Position This is used to adjust the screen position at the time of D VI input selection. Press the cursor button ( ↑↓ ) and align the cursor with [Screen Movement], then pr ess the SET button.
E – 32 Color System Video Signal Color System Settings These settings are of the color system of the com- posite video signal. This function is normally set to Auto . If the color sys- tem cannot be identified on Auto , set it manually . Press the ( ↑↓ ) cursor button and align the cursor with [Color System], then press the SET button.
E – 33 Setup These settings are used when setting up the projector . See → P age E-24 "Using the On-Screen Menu" f or information about performing menu operations . E – 34 Backgr ound Background Color Settings This sets the backg round color when a signal is not being input to the connector of the projector . Press the cursor ( ↑↓ ) button and align the cursor with [Background], then make the selection with the cursor ( ← → ) button.

E – 36 Resetting, Storing, and Information [Info.] This function performs resetting and the displa y of inf ormation for the method of using the user memor y , the default v alues of adjustments and settings, and the lamp timer . E – 37 Resetting, Storing, and Information [Info.] Default Returning to Standard Settings This function is used to return the adjustments and settings of the current signal to the standard settings. Select the signal you wish to return to the def ault set- tings first bef ore doing so .
E – 38 T r oubleshooting Check the f ollowing matters bef ore requesting ser vicing. * Has the power plug become disconnected from the outlet? * Is the lamp cov er properly attached? * Has the inter nal temperature become high? When the inter nal temperature becomes very high, to protect the unit the power will not s witch on.
E – 39 When the ST A TUS Indicator Is Lit/Flashes * It is time to replace the lamp. Replace with a new lamp . * Is the lamp cover attached properly? If not, attach it properly . * The thermal protector has been activ ated. If the room temperature is high, move the projector to a cool location.
E – 40 Replacing the Lamp Cartridge NOTE: The projector lamp has its usable life. The rated lamp life is about 1000 hours. How- ever , it may become shorter depending on the conditions of usage. (The rated lamp life is the average life of the lamps produced and tested, under the test con- ditions of our company , for a long term.
E – 41 3 Install the new lamp cartridge. q Install the new lamp cartridge in the direction as shown in the dra wing. Plug 4 Reinstall the lamp cover . q Inser t the lamp cov er until the catches fit in the groo ves . w Tighten the lamp cov er screw .
E – 42 Cleaning a Soiled Projector Main Unit * Wipe with a lint-free, soft, dry cloth. When very dir ty , wipe with a cloth that has been moistened with a diluted neutral detergent, then finish with a dr y cloth. If a chemically-treated cloth is going to be used, please f ollow any written war nings.
