Safet y P recautions Before start working with the Devic e, please, read this section carefully . Following these instructions will help you ensure your safety and extend servic e life of the De vice.

Safety Precautions 6 K eep away from children. Maintenance Do not disassemble or modify the book reader . Do not use the Devic e with a damaged battery , charger (broken case, poor contact, broken feed cable) or SD card. If the battery is damaged (crack ed case, leakage of electrolyte, off-shape etc.
Safety Precautions 7 Up to ve faulty pix els are acc eptable in the screen and do not constitut e a warrantable defect of the screen. By the end of product guarantee t erm, please contact the nearest authoriz ed service facility for examination on the subje ct of security is maintained.
Safety Precautions 8 to learn whether or not such medical de vices are protect ed against external RF signals. Do not use wireless c ommunication in places where it is prohibited, e.g. onboard a plane and in hospitals – this may affect airborne avionics or medical equipment.

CHAR GING BA T TER Y T o e xtend battery lifetime, it’ s rec ommended to charge the Device for the rst time from 8 to 12 hours in the off state. Y ou can charge the battery from PC using USB-cable or from the power line using a charger (optional).
Getting Started 1 4 • When the battery is fully charged, indicator turns solid. Now y ou can disconnect the De vice and turn it on for the rst use. If the Devic e is on when you connect the cable to PC, a dialog window asking to select action – PC link or Charge – will appear .

Shor t Backward button press returns to the pre vious menu; continuous Backward ke y press closes an application (Browser , P ocketNews, etc.). Also you can congure key mapping to your own in C onguration > Key mapping section.
Getting Started 18 the required symbol in this zone. OK button press types selected symbol. 1 . Change te xt case 2 . Erase last entered symbol 3 . Change input language. T o add the language (up to 3 layouts) to the onscreen keyboard layout go to C onguration > Keyboard .
Getting Started 19 C ONNECTING T O INTERNET The Devic e can connect to Int erntet using Wi-Fi networks. If you will open an application, which requires Internet ac cess (e.g. Browser , PocketNews ) the Devic e will open a list of available Wi-Fi conne ctions.
Getting Started 20 will turn to the same as Network name (SSID) . If you’d like to change conne ction (for example, Home or Ofce) press OK and enter c onnection name as you’d like it t o be displayed on the Devic e NO TE C onnection name eld species only the display name of the c onnection.

Main Menu In this chapt er you will learn about main interface elements and their functionality . Main menu consists o f list of two last opened books and list of applications and menus described below . BOOKS Books is the le manager for books, stored in the Devic e’ s memory and e xternal microSD-card.
Main Menu 23 C ontext menu of a le or folder is opened by continuous OK button press. Using the cont ext menu you can perf orm the following actions: • Open/Open with – Open with appears, when a book can be opened with an alternative reader application (e.
Main Menu 2 4 or move to SD card or De vice storage (depending on original le location) • View – conguration o f Books section appearance. Files and folders can be displayed as list, thumbnails or detailed (thumbnail and brief le/folder info).
Main Menu 25 BookLand Y ou can view and download e-books from online bookstore ‘BookLand’ . T o enter the online bookst ore select ‘BookLand’ in the Books section and browser will open its homepage. NO TE T o enter the BookL and, your Devic e must be conne cted to the Int ernet.
Main Menu 26 Y ou can navigate by using the following buttons: • Up and Down buttons t o switch between active elements on the page (referenc es, te xt elds, etc.
Main Menu 27 The browser supports le downloads from the Internet. Downloaded les are saved to the root folder of the De vice ’ s internal storage. T o e xit the browser , press and hold Backward button. NEWS Opens P ocketNews – application f or adding and reading RSS feeds.
Main Menu 28 T o edit the f eed, sele ct it , open the cont ext menu (by c ontinuous OK button press) and select Edit command. Edit the feed address using the on-scre en ke yboard. T o updat e feed, select Update in the application menu. Updated content is added to the le with .
Main Menu 29 FA V ORITES This section displays the books, added to favorites in Books section. T o add book to Favorites , select the corresponding book’ s conte xt menu option in Books section. T o remove a book from the list of favorit e books, select the book, open the cont ext menu (press and hold the OK button) and select the Delete option.
Main Menu 30 DIC TIONAR Y Aft er your start this application, the on-scre en ke yboard will appear . T ype the word y ou’d like to nd, and application will nd its entry in the dictionary . T o change dictionaries, press Forward button, select the dictionary you need from the list and press OK .
Main Menu 31 APPLIC A TIONS This section c ontains games and additional sof tware. T o exit an application, press Backward k e y continuously . Browser Y ou can navigate by using the following buttons: • Up and Down buttons t o switch between active elements on the page (referenc es, te xt elds, etc.

Main Menu 35 C ALENDAR Opens current year calendar . Y ou can change year using L eft/Right or Backward/Forward ke ys. T o exit C alendar , press OK . ST A TUS BAR Status bar is located at the bottom o f the screen and displays next servic e information: • Date and time • Battery charge • – Wi-Fi is active.
Main Menu 36 NO TE In sle ep mode the clock is removed from the status bar to save po wer for screen updat e. EXPRESS MENU By default Express menu opening is not set , but you can set it in Settings > K ey mapping section.
R eading Books In this chapter you will learn how to read e-books and c ongure reader sof tware for the most comf or table reading. The Devic e suppor ts next book formats: FB2, FB2. zip, T X T , PDF, R TF, HTML, MOBI.PR C, CHM, DJVU, DOC, DOCX, EPUB, TCR.
R eading Books 38 TURNING P AGES Use Backward/Forward or Lef t/Right ke ys to turn pages (while reading books in PDF or DjVU format Up/Down ke ys also turn pages).
R eading Books 39 MAKING NO TES Y ou can enter notes mode by pressing Down button continuously or by pressing the corresponding menu option. On the top of the display separate area will appear . Use the buttons Up , Down to choose the place where y our note will begin and press OK t o set up the top margin of the note.
R eading Books 4 0 CHANGING FONT SIZE In text format books (eP ub, FB2 etc. , ex cluding PDF and DjV u) you can change font size with Up/Down ke ys. 5 font size presets are available. When you will reach the largest/smallest one, text will change t o smallest/largest.
R eading Books 4 1 continuous press o f OK button expands/c ollapses subsection branch. Y ou can tune appearance of c ontents in cont ext menu. There y ou can rename or edit note, e xpand or collapse all subse ctions branches and set up items to display in cont ents (under the Settings section): cont ents, bookmarks, and notes.
R eading Books 4 2 Bookmarks Adds current page to bookmarks. Af ter adding a page to bookmarks in a right top c orner a dog ear mark will appear . All the bookmarks will be displayed in c ontents. T o delete bookmark, select the correspondent menu item again.
R eading Books 4 3 width, or encoding (for T XT and HTML books). FB2 books has two refresh modes: Best Quality or High Speed (default). Z oom PDF and DjV u books has Z oom menu item instead o f Settings . Select z ooming mode using Left/Right k eys and select value using Up/Down ke ys.
R eading Books 44 tables may not display in this mode. R eow mode is suppor ted f or PDF books only • Te x t – select lef t to right (by default) or right to lef t (e.g. for Arabic or Hebrew texts). Dictionary Single-word translation. By default cursor highlights the word to translat e and dictionary looks f or translation automatically .

C onguration In this chapter you will learn how congure the interfac e and software features o f the Devic e for the most comf or table usage. Sele ct Settings Main menu section to c ongure the Devic e. All changes will be applied aft er exiting the se ction.
C on guration 4 7 NO TE During the registration only serial number of the Devic e is sent . Registration is related to the particular Devic e only and is not related t o BookLand acc ount .
C on guration 4 8 UserP roles Here you can congure up to 6 user proles (5 can be stored on the internal st orage and 1 – on microSD card). Each prole stores individual books’ status, last opened books, bookmarks, notes, favorites and prec ongured network c onnections.
C on guration 4 9 Appearance Here y ou can select the appearanc e parameters: • Theme • Interfac e font . If y ou’d like to use your own font, copy its les to the system/fonts inter.

Firmware Update W ARNING! Firmware Update is a responsible operation, during which management software o f the Device will be changed. In case of improper e xe cution control program may be damaged and will require treatment in the service c enter . Please perform the upgrade proc edure in acc ordance with the instructions below .
Firmware U pdate 55 If default Internet connection is not set, the Devic e will ask to connect t o one of available wireless networks. Also y ou can set period of automatic updates check ( Settings > Maintenance > Update interval ). In this case, the Device will use Wi-Fi connection only .
