Getting Started In this chapter you will learn how to prepare the Device to work and about its main control features. CHARGING BA TTERY T o extend battery lifetime, it’s r ecommended to charge the Device for the first time from 8 to 12 hours in the off state.
Getting Started 14 If the Device is on when you connect the cable to PC, a d ialog window asking to select action – PC link or Char ge – will appear .

Getting Started 19 CONNECTING T O THE INTERNET The Device can be connected to the Internet using Wi-Fi networks. If you open an application, which requires Internet access (e.g. Browser , Poc ketNews ) the Device will open a list of available Wi-Fi connections.

Insert it to the slot, like it is shown on a figure, and slightly push until car d will be fixed. T o eject the card, slightly press on its edge until it will be unfixed, and pull it to get.

The Device supports next book formats: PDF , EPUB (includ - ing Adobe DRM -protected); FB2, FB2.ZIP , DOC, DOCX, TXT , DjVU, R TF , HTML, HTM, CHM, TCR, PRC, MOBI, ACSM .

ReadRate also allows you watching the friends’ events and obtaining information about the most popular books.

Read ing Books 60 T o delete your social networks accounts information for ReadRate, go to Settings > Acc ounts and Synchr oniza - tion > ReadRate > Remove ReadRate authorization on your PocketBook.
Read ing Books 61 Content section contains three insets: • Sections (book’s chapters names); • Bookmarks (made during read ing); • Notes (graphic or text). If there’ s no content, bookmarks or notes, the corresponding inset is blank.

Read ing Books 67 DICTIONARY T ouch and hold a word to open a panel allowing you to search for translation using one of installed dictionaries or find a word in Google. Also after selecting Dictionary item, a window with d ictionary entry of a selected word appears.
Read ing Books 68 NOTES Notes allows you to save favorite book fragments and make handwritten records directly in the text. All the notes will be d isplayed in book’ s table of contents. T o enter notes mode, select Note read ing menu section. NOTE Handwritten notes ar e not available for DjVu books.

Settings In this chapter you will learn how configure the interface and software features of the Device for the most comfortable usage. Select Settings Main menu section to configure the Device. All changes will be applied after exiting the section.
Settings 71 Power -off Logo — the image will be displayed when the Device is off . Y ou can set a cover of the last opened book by setting book cover . NOTE Y ou can also set your own picture as a logo from the Photo application. Read about it in the Photo section.
Settings 72 NETWORK In this section you can set parameters needed for network connection. Network access — on or off . After network access activation, the following settings appear: • Auto connection on or off .
Settings 73 DA TE/TIME In this section you will be able to set date, time, time zone and clock format. Y ou can also Synchronize Time or set Auto T ime Sync to use the network time/date. LANGUA GES Language Select the Device’s interface language. Keyboar d Layouts Under this section you can add up to 3 keyboard layouts.
Settings 74 ACC OUNTS AND SYNCHRONIZA TION Book Stor e — in this section you can enter Login and Passwor d for authorization in the Book Store. P ocketBook Sync — There are the following settings for the PocketBook S ync service: • PocketBook S ync Status : On or off .
Settings 75 • Download folder : location of files. T he Downloads folder is set by default. Y ou can choose another folder or create a new one in the internal Device storage or on the external SD-card.
Settings 76 • Receive files now : T he content of the Download folder will be updated. Before update, please, check if your Device is connected to the Internet. • Receive files automatically : On or Off . F iles, sent to the Device address username@pbsync.
Settings 77 • Synchronize Now : Files in the Sync folder and Pocketbook device directory will be synced. Before syncing files, please check if your Device is connected to the Inter - net and is linked to the proper Dropbox account • Autosync : T urn On or Off auto synchronization.
Settings 78 • Remove ReadRate Authorization . After removing all files of events from ReadRate are deleted. Read mor e about ReadRate in Social networks & ReadRate section. • ReadRate Status • ReadRate authorization Adobe DRM T o authorize, input your Login (e-mail address) and P ass- word .
Settings 79 books, bookmarks, notes, favorites and pre-configured network connections. T o add new profile, open the corresponding item. Y ou will be suggested to set destination (local memory or SD card) and to enter the name from on-scr een keyboard.
Settings 80 Format SD car d – this action will erase all data from the external microSD card; Backup & Recovery • Factory Reset – the Device state will be reset to factory default settings, erasing user settings.
Settings 81 • Once – database will be updated after exit from Configuration section, the par ameter will be set to Off after update; • Automatically – database would be update after each Library opening and copying/removal of books (includ ing microSD car d change).

Firmwar e Update W ARNING! Firmware Update is a responsible operation, during which management software of the Device will be changed. In case of improper execution control pr ogram may be damaged and will require tr eatment in the service centre. Please perform the upgrade procedure in accor dance with the instructions below .
