9 Chapter 2: Using Your Phone Your Po lycom® SoundPo int® IP 32x/33x phone is designed t o be used like a regular phone on a public switched telephone netw ork (PSTN). Y ou can place calls, transfer a call t o someone else, or c o nduct a conference call.

You can access inacti ve calls (calls on hold, or incoming calls that you don’t immediatel y answer) by pressing the right arrow ke y . The following figure shows one activ e call and one on hold for Line 1.

Chapter 2: Using Your Pho ne 21 Handling M ultiple Calls on Hold If mult iple calls a re on hold, use the up a nd down arrow keys to switch between the c alls, then pr ess the Resume s o ft ke y to resume the desired call .

If your phone is set up to do thi s, you can end an a ctive conference call by pressing the Lin e Key a ssocia ted with t he con feren ce call.

You can dial or search for a co ntact in this direc tory, or add, edit, and d e lete contacts. You may have access to portio ns of your corporate directo ry thro ugh your phone.

Chapter 2: Using Your Pho ne 33 4 (Optional ) Press the Info soft ke y. The name is displayed. The numbe r, time and dat e when the call started, and call duration are acces sible using the Down arrow key. 5 (Optional ) Press the Dow n arrow key rep eatedly to s elect the ph o ne nu m ber.

Chapter 2: Using Your Pho ne 37 The ‘En try saved’ messa ge displays on the scr een. Only the firs t name, last name, and pho ne number a re saved. If the contact already exists in the contact dire ctory, the ‘Entry already exists’ message displays.

Setting Ring Tones for Cont act s You can set a distinctive rin g to ne fo r each contact i n your contact dir ectory so you can distinguis h callers.

Chapter 2: Using Your Pho ne 41 User Tip: Assign ing Speed Dial In dex Values Polycom recommends that you as sign speed di al index values consecutiv ely. For example, t he sec ond Line Key i s assigned to the s peed dial index value “2”. 9 Press th e Yes soft key to accept chang es.
SoundPoi nt IP 32x/ 33x User Guide 42 Work ing with Multipl e and S hared Li nes Your sys tem administra tor can custom ize your pho ne so that you have more than one Line Key o r that your one line appears on two Line Keys. Your phon e can also share a lin e with another ph one.
Chapter 2: Using Your Pho ne 43 For example, the first figure sho ws Line 2 in a held cal l wit h Dean at e xtension 1703 and Line 1 has a call on hol d.
SoundPoi nt IP 32x/ 33x User Guide 44 If two phones share a line, an incoming call to that nu mber will cause both phones to ring. The call c an be answe red on either phone but not both. You can transfer, hold, or c o nference calls on shared li nes.
Chapter 2: Using Your Pho ne 45 About Your U ser Passw ord You are as signed a user p assword so you can answe r calls from your lo cked phone and u nlock the phone. B y default, your user passwor d is 123. You can change yo ur user password a t any time.
SoundPoi nt IP 32x/ 33x User Guide 46 ○ DND w hen locked — Se lect this op tion if you don’ t want your pho ne to ring. You won ’t have the option to answer incoming calls. All inco ming calls will go to your mail system (if e nabled ) and display in your Missed Calls lis t.
Chapter 2: Using Your Pho ne 47 The following figure shows an exa m ple of the Place an Authorized Call screen. ○ Place a ca ll to an authorized num ber by using t he handset, head set, or speaker phone. For information on using the h andset, headset, or speakerph one to place a call, see Placing Calls .

You must set yourself to availab le for calls to be directed to you again. Logging Int o and Out of AC D Calls may be directed to you, as an ACD agent, if y ou are logged in.

Live interaction within a pool o f phones is possible by monitoring the presence of the parti e s involved.
